This shooter was known to the Secret Service and the police.....had his guns confiscated by the Secret Service....who gave them to the local cops, who gave them to his father....who gave them to the shooter....
Another incident of the police fucking up and innocent people dying, and then anti gunners using the government screw up to go after the guns of people who didn't shoot anyone...
Nashville Police: Waffle House Suspect Had Guns Confiscated After White House Intrusion
Metro Nashville Police say the suspect in Sunday morning's shooting at a Waffle House in Antioch had his guns confiscated last year after being caught inside a restricted area at the White House.
Travis Reinking, 29, is still at large, and police he still may have two guns in his possession. Police believe he fled on foot and remains shirtless but is now wearing pants.
Law enforcement shared more details of the shooting and what they've learned about Reinking at a press conference Sunday afternoon.
They confirmed that Reinking used an AR-15 rifle to kill four people and wound two others. That's even though Reinking had his right to possess firearms revoked in Illinois last year. Law enforcement in Tazewell County, Ill., confiscated four guns at the time but returned them to his father, who says he gave them back to Reinking.
Police: Suspect in Waffle House killings had guns confiscated, but family returned them to him
Authorities in Tazewell County, Illinois, and the FBI interviewed Reinking, Aaron said. At the FBI’s request, Reinking’s Illinois firearms authorization was revoked, and four weapons — including the AR-15 used in the Sunday’s shooting — were seized, Aaron said.
Tazwell County authorities later returned the guns to Reinking’s father, who acknowledged giving them back to his son, Aaron said.
Authorities so far have recovered two weapons, including one found Sunday at Reinking’s apartment, Aaron said. But they are concerned he may have two other weapons that were not found in his home.
Yes...they screwed up...but he owners of over 8 million AR-15 civilian rifles need to give them up.......that is how stupid the anti gunners are.
he was a law-abiding AR-15 owner until today, that's the thing.
He wasn't convicted of a crime, therefore he couldn't have his Gun Rights taken away.
Kind of the problem when you call gun ownership a "Right".
This one is on the SS, state cops and the Dad. The family is also on the hook for not making sure this nut--their nut was in a loony bin somewhere drugged up and under supervision.
You just can't prove to the world your crazy and irresponsible any better than breaching the White House grounds. That's a one strike and you're out stunt when it comes to owning a firearm.
But again, when you call gun ownership a "right", you really can't take them away from people, can you?
Maybe we should stop treating it as a "right", and actually make people prove they can be trusted, instead of relying on "Shoulda, woulda, coulda" after the fact.
I WISH SOMEONE WOULD PROVIDE SOME LINKS AROUND HERE
Sorry. Here you go:
In July 2017, the U.S. Secret Service arrested Reinking for being in a "restricted area" near the White House, according to the Secret Service.
"He wanted to set up a meeting with the president," said Secret Service representative Todd Hudson.
After the arrest, his Illinois firearms authorization was revoked and local Illinois police seized four weapons.
"Among the weapons seized by those authorities was the AR-15 rifle used at the Waffle House today," said Nashville police spokesman Don Aaron at a Sunday afternoon news conference.
On Aug. 24, 2017, sheriffs deputies in Tazewell County, Illinois took a state-issued card from Reinking that Illinois requires for someone to own a weapon. During a Sunday news conference streamed online, Tazewell County Sheriff Robert M. Huston said Reinking volunteered to give up his four weapons.
However, Reinking's father was present when those deputies came to confiscate the guns, Huston said. The father had a valid state authorization card and asked the police if he could keep the weapons. Deputies gave Reinking's father the weapons, Huston said.
"He was allowed to do that after he assured deputies he would keep them secure and away from Travis," Huston said, referring to Reinking's father.
Waffle House shooting: Suspect Travis Reinking previously arrested outside White House
Okay. So it sounds like the failure here is "Gun Ownership as a Right". Dad didn't do anything wrong. Adam Lanza's mother didn't do anything wrong.
No...moron, he was not. He stole a car right before the shooting....and he had his guns taken away, moron.....and his father gave them back......
I don't call it a Right, it is a Right.
Hey, buddy, there's a thread in the Conspiracy theory forum. Turns out most sane people don't believe your crazy stuff.
Lets get something straight I am not your buddy. Just stating fact. And if people would do some research they would wake up. And people bitch about losing there rights there not losing there rights they are giving them away.
