search youtube for Dave Cantebury's vids, and then check out his website. Now Dave HAS put out a lot of great info, and he's a great guy, with lots of knowledge and ability. But check out those prices and the idea that "gear was better in 1890". No it wasn't, but lots of people are coughing up lots of money based on that bs.

In some areas it was.
For example real animal skin coats are much better than synthetic and feather lined coats of today.
Ask the Eskimos, they refuse to wear them because they don't work.
Some of the gear was made much better than today. Some of those items are still around today. The ones made today don't even last for 10 years.
 
better in what way? they're not warmer or more water or wind repellant, per mm or per gram, for certain. Eskimos don't want to (or cant) wear the GOOD stuff. People climbing Everest don't choose hides, man. they use the most modern gear available.
