What a great story. And thanks to Drudge for linking to it.

Now Congress has stepped in. Tucked inside the 2016 Defense Department budget bill signed by President Obama is a new law that directs the military to bring home all working dogs stateside if they are being retired.

Just one example of the old way. But, due to this law, handlers will now be able to bring their animals with them when they come home.

Great story and about time. Those MWD have saved many lives.

The US left hundreds in Vietnam when we left that country.

Those dogs saved countless lives but were considered "equipment" and very few were shipped back to the US.

Many of the handlers of those dog still cry today about their comrades who were left to die.

Thanks for posting this.

Aweosme!!! Some feel good news for sure. Those dogs are hero's and deserve the same treatment. So glad they get to stay with their partners when they come home.

What is this, common sense coming out of Congress?
Someone must've spiked the water cooler.....
