WH preparing national emergency order to get wall money

Trump has no choice to fund the wall if the dems will throw everyone under the bus and refuse any wall funding. The alternative is a permanent shutdown. The voters see who the adults are, its not the rigid democrats who funded the wall the last 10-years, and now its "immoral"? It's time to end the shutdown and let Nancy and the House dems run their little "Animal House" and Trump can run the country.

The Dims will build the wall once the country is 100% socialist, then the wall will be there to keep us all in.

All because he could not deliver on Mexico paying for the wall....a simpleton campaign promise....

We get it: "Orange Man Bad."

Now would you like to show us on this doll, where that bad ol' Orange Man inappropriately touched you?

This is what you're reduced to? You have no arguments or ideas to defend the POS you elected, so you're reduced to this bullshit to defend him?

You truly have no shame.

I have no reason to be ashamed. Now if I had voted for Hillary or Bernie, I'd have plenty of reason to be ashamed of myself.

But I didn't.

Pointing fingers again?

It's always nice passing the blame on Trump regarding the border crisis when it was the ineffective approach by both parties that led to him winning the Oval office by running on border security.

Enjoy.

The "National Emergency" is much bigger than just the Wall.

It may all come down to whether or not there's the will to turn things around or not.

Pat Buchanan: How the establishment won't let the Right make policy and why rebellion may be the only choice

The RIGHT held every lever of power for two years and all they could agree on passing was a tax cut.

You like paying higher taxes?

Ok. I see.

If he doesn't have the votes in congress for his Wall, what's the justification for shutting down the gummit ?.... unless we are a dictatorship rather than constitutional republic with a COEQUAL legislature.

Other presidents have faced the same issue. Reagan had to stop funding the contras. Slick didn't get his healthcare program. W had to face the fact he didn't have the votes to privitize soc sec. Obama didn't get the Dreamers permanent status.

But he does have the power to try this the emergency way .... although the gop fears the precedent he may be setting.

....and yet, each one of those presidents kicked the immigration can down the road, resulting in massive problem we have today.

President Trump is the only one who is actually doing something about it.

What makes immigration different from communists in latin America, universal healthcare and social security? That's the question. You are attempting to say Trump can behave differently from other presidents of both parties who lacked the votes in congress to do what they said they would do.

That’s because a tax cut doesn’t require a 60 Senate vote.

Depends on what I get for my tax dollars.

My tax dollars buy an education for my grandchildren that is currently ranked #2 in the world. My tax dollars pay for cradle to the grave health care for me and my family. My tax dollars help provide clean air and water for my country, and last summer they helped pay for the country to tear up my street and replace all of the water lines, and sewer hook ups, as well as the sidewalks, curbing and roadway. Infrastructure, education, and training are priorities for our government.

I have no problem with paying taxes that provide the wonderful "Senior Support" group in our county that provides low cost services to help the elderly stay in their homes, or the Public Health Nurses who visit new mothers to give help and support in the early weeks after delivery.

These same taxes provide the benefits I enjoy as a senior: low co-pay prescription drugs, OAS, (both of which all Canadians get, regardless of income), CPP (like SS in the US), reductions on our utility bills (waiving of "account fees" totalling $60 per month). That my adult children receive which our government calls "Child tax benefit", but which we call the "baby bonus" of up to $6500 per child, based on income. Our seniors are guaranteed an income of $1300 per month once they reach age 65.

What my taxes don't pay for is the world toughest army, which has been at war for 18 years, and which provides no economic benefit to the people of our nation. We don't spend billions on military bases around the world protecting "Canadian interests". And we make businesses and millionaires pay their fair share.

So no, I have no probolem paying my taxes.

Well.....kinda / sorta...maybe.....maybe not.....

On one hand I see your point. There was certainly a lot of talk about a wall, but no serious actions as I recall. maybe I'm forgetting something.
On the other hand, the Republicans never had total control. There was a contingent in the senate that blocked Republican efforts many times during the period you mention.

Not to mention the President was busy on 1000 fronts building his administration and dealing with urgent matters like Syria and Russia. So in a way, your argument fails. The "Wall" was not THE PRIORITY for the administration. he was also (and continues to) deal with a VERY hostile media and Democrat lynch mob. You are quite biased apparently to not consider all the factors.

That said, I'm not convinced (yet) that anyone in Washington (and I do mean "anyone") that is actually going to get a wall done.
Until "The Wall" is 50% completed I will continue to consider this ALL a Dog & Pony Show designed to keep Americans guessing and more importantly, focused on one another and objects and partisan failures, rather than on the Establishment behind it all.

How the wall is paid for is an obsession by you leftists, not us on the right. We don't care who pays for the wall, just as long as one is being built.

Yeah.... it's a backstop for the Dems making the shutdown go on too long and impacting the economy. As for the non-essentials, I think they should all be discharged anyway: we only need essential employees, not a bunch of drones feeding off the taxpayer.

If he has to, Trump can call a national emergency quite safely, I believe. With all those caravans of criminals pouring up through Mexico, it IS a national emergency, just like the huge Muslim invasion of Europe that started in 2015 and continues now.

I'm seriously of the opinion that Trump is doing this to keep Pelosi and the Democratic House from moving to legislate their agenda. Democrats have an ambitious agenda covering protection of voters rights after the abuses we saw in the mid-terms, and serious health care reform measures which is what their constituents voted for. There's also the opioid crisis as well. None of this agenda is moving forward in the shutdown. As well, the oversight committees are hobbled by lack of staff and resources imposed by the shut down.

Trump suddenly can't seem to focus on ANYTHING other than his border wall. While he is toxicly stupid, this seems more like a strategy to (a) drive federal workers to quit because he doesn't plan on replacing them; and (b) keeps the House from getting agenda out into the public discourse to offer an alternative to the chaos of the Trump Administration. Donald is trying to control the agenda and the mediai to keep the Democrats from promoting their policies in the House.
Donald Trump truly sees this whole fiasco as a win/win for HIM.

I am getting older. In my early 60's. When my father died he spent his last month of life in a life support situation as many seniors do. The cost was 800 thousand dollars. Do you really think that this is going to continue? The amount of people on social security and medicare is moving from about 60 million and peak out at about 100 million with the baby boomers retiring. Many of the boomers are going from payers of that 15% tax to payees. The costs of medical care is skyrocketing. Our government will do something about this that we may not like at some point.
