What Do The Words "A Well Regulated Militia" Mean?

The Founding Fathers were libertarians. Senator Fienstien of "The Peoples Republic of California" and other big government central authority liberals (Marxist-Socialist) just don't get it.

The Founders supported an armed citizenry because knew that a Progressive government and unarmed citizens always leads to mass murder

Actually, the founders supported an armed citizenship because they preferred not to spend government money to stockpile weapons.

Um, no. They studied history and knew that unchecked power leads to tyranny and mass murder

The only "mass murder" to take place in that time period was a few years later, and was perpetrated by armed CITIZENS against the government in the French revelation. It didn't stop until they realized that they had begun killing each other, too.

Was the French revelation determined by a Ouija Board?

Rephrase your question in a coherent fashion, and you may get an answer....

You know we're based on the Roman Republic, right?

Look up the History of Rome, it happened wayyyyyyyyyyy before the French Revolution

We also know the Founders were influenced by philosophers such as John Locke who advocated free will and natural rights at birth. Hence the above quote in my post from Declaration of Independence.

You may have a point there. Rome's entire existence and economy was based on forever expanding by conquering and enslaving their neighbors. I am starting to see a similarity to that in our Middle East policy.

Roman Empire collapsed when no one could actually tell who was a "Roman" and who was an outsider. Same thing will happen to this nation. Look at our immigration policy?

The 2nd amendment in modern language, means:

"Since an armed and capable populace is necessary for security and freedom, the right or ordinary people to own and carry guns and other such weapons cannot be taken away or restricted."

---------------------------------

That "well-regulated militia" part translates most accurately, to a populace that is armed and capable of using their weapons.

Note too, that that first phrase is simply a reason why the right cannot be infringed. Not a condition on its infringement. It actually doesn't matter exactly what a "well-regulated militia" is. It could be a pair of shoelaces or a Thanksgiving turkey or a moon rocket. The amendment says that, since it's important, the right to own and carry guns can't be taken away or restricted. Even if somebody proved somehow that it wasn't important, the Amendment would still say that the right to own and carry guns can't be taken away or restricted.

The 2nd amendment is a flat ban on any government restricting or taking away your right to own and carry a gun.

The Founders were a Progressive Government

That is correct.

I believe it was Thomas Jefferson who first suggested a graduated income tax and Jefferson health care.

.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Even better....he advocated "All men are created equal"

Something Conservatives fight against

The Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home

Anti-gun loons hate this fact because it makes it virtually impossible to enact their mindless, bigoted anti-gun agenda.

And so, what do they do with facts that get in their way? They pretend said facts do not exist.

Not impossible, just illegal.

To a liberal, the two things are completely different. Illegality doesn't change their plans at all.

actually its liberals who keep reenforcing some of you are less equal than others. and because you are less equal we will legislate things like affirmative action to get you jobs we don't believe you can get on your own. We will keep you flush in entitlements since you remain uneducated and obviously can't make it on your own. We will support you being low information voters, as long as you keep voting for us
