You may perhaps not like this book or that flag.
But to burn it publicly as a demonstration I find overdoing things.

One can express one's criticism in other ways

The Library of Alexandria.
The Way of the World Is the Ruling Class's "My Way or the Highway"

Christofascists burned it before that. Many great works were lost forever. It is a simplistic and biased judgment to believe that only the best ideas survived from the Classical Era. This free-market type thinking doesn't reflect reality. The Invisible Hand is the one lighting a torch.

For example, all of Aristotle's original works disappeared (except for the brilliant Constitution of Athens, which wasn't discovered until the 19th Century, the only one of the 50 treatises on local governments he wrote). What passes for Aristotle today is the textbooks used in his Lyceum.

i could not have said it better Sage...
The Supreme Court long ago, ruled that the burning of flags was a form of protected speech, thus so too would be the burning of books. However, it would be nice if an Amendment were enacted to protect our flag.
I'll meet you 1/2 way Lucky,

The flag is a symbol , protecting what it stands for should rate far more than (as George Carlin said) the symbol minded.......~S~
