Today’s shining example of how Barack Obama pulled one over the eyes of the idiot liberals and the naive independents with his "Hopey, Changey, Transparency" speeches comes to you from the Vice President himself!

Biden collects rent from Secret Service - $2,200 a month for cottage use

The U.S. Secret Service does more than protect Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. — the agency also pays him rent.

Since April, Mr. Biden has collected more than $13,000 from the agency charged with protecting him and his family for use of a rental cottage adjacent to the waterfront home he owns in a Wilmington, Del., suburb.

Mr. Biden, listed not as vice president in federal purchasing documents but as a “vendor,” is eligible for up to $66,000 by the time the government contract expires in the fall of 2013, the records show.

“He should be afforded every single protection available to him and his family, as should every vice president and president,” said Leslie Paige, spokeswoman for the Washington-based Citizens Against Government Waste.

“But this arrangement seems bizarre to me,” she added. “You’d think the vice president, who shepherded the deficit committee, would think twice about charging the Secret Service rent. Why would he need the money? I don’t get it.”

Wait a second - don't the Dumbocrats believe that "the rich among us can afford to pay a little bit more"??? Shouldn't the very wealth Joe Biden be willing to give up is rental property for the good of the goverment? Hasn't that been what Barack Hussein and him have been preaching during their "we need to steal more money from hard working Americans" raise the taxes tour?

Ohhhhh - that's right! I forgot - Dumbocrats believe in hoarding wealth for themselves, but everyone else has to "sacrifice" for the "good" of all. More evidence that the Dumbocrat Party is just the party of hypocrisy.

Socialism is for the people, not the Socialist....

this was discussed in another thread already.

If you can show that no other President or Vice President did this, then it's an issue. If not, it's a non-issue.

Don't know what you're talking about. Got a cite to where Obama said "hopey, changey", even once?!?! This sounds like a cover-up for what the TPers are doing to the national economy.

You make a good point that I agree with.

But this is the first time I have heard of such a practice. So Im inclined to get the rope.

Wow - you're completely missing the point. It's an issue because Barack Hussein promised over and over and over that his administration would not be like past administration. Remember? It would not be "business as usual in Washington"? So it's actually an even bigger issue if past president's or vice president's have done this because that means it's more "business as usual in Washington.

In the world of hundred million dollar no bid contracts to VP Cheney's Haliburton your thread is silly. BTW, how many secret service agents have been killed in the shower of VP Biden's Cottage?

Pretty lame to get upset over the rent payments. The SS leased another place when someone else was living in the Biden place. Biden's became available so they're paying rent there now instead. As income producing property, why should Biden not be allowed to collect rent? He could have rented it to someone else and the SS would still be paying rent elsewhere.

Another liberal trying to redirect the conversation. Why are you avoiding the issue? Obama promised change. Transparency. Said that it would not be "business as usual" in Washington. This is the definition of "business as usual in Washington".

They're just updating an old FALSE story with a new name. If you're concerned about the "everybody does it" excuse, why pretend it's just about Biden?

snopes.com: Clintons Charge Rent to the Secret Service

Except that this TRUE story was a headline in the Washington Times two days ago:

Biden collects rent from Secret Service - Washington Times

Oops! No matter how hard you guys try with the propaganda, the truth always comes out.

And my "concern" (hence the title of the thread) is that Obama promised it would not be "business as usual in Washington". It was supposed to be different with Mr. Hopey, Changey, wasn't it?

It's not lame at all - the Dumbocrat Party keeps preaching about "shared sacrifice", the "good of all", and the "rich among us can afford to pay more".

Well, Mr. Biden is the as high up the Dumbocrat Party as you can get. Shouldn't he practice what he preaches? Why is the uber wealthy Mr. Biden charging his own government money to protect him when the country is $14 trillion in debt and he's preaching that the wealthy among us can sacrifice more? Why does he not allow the Secret Service to stay there free of charge, since they are protecting his family and hit would save the government money that he "doesn't need" (their own words).

The left is a bunch of greedy dirtbags. They work the system to steal as much money as they can. The right may be greedy, but at least they earn their wealth and they advocate that everyone should keep what they earn. It amazes me how the left can preach about "shared sacrifice", higher taxes for "the good of all", and then they hoard their wealth like the dirt-bags they are. Why don't these Marxist/Socialist/Communist dirt-bags practice what they preach?

No, I think you're missing the point.

This is not a DC corruption issue. It's a business issue. People, regardless of the political position they hold, or the party they belong to, are entitled to fair compensation for property, or the use thereof, by the government.

If the prevailing history showed that this was not typically done, then I'd have expected Biden to follow that 'tradition' and allow the use of the property gratis. However, if the prevailing history showed that this was typically done, then I'd have expected Biden to follow that 'tradition' and charget the going rate for the use of the property.

In either case, it has nothing to do with the operational end of the government. THAT, is where the whole transparency thing got it's ass kicked by this administration.

Sorry, transparency goes far beyond "operational end of the government". If Barack Hussein is out having flaming homosexual sex with men from China, that technically has nothing to do with "government operations". That's his personal business - right? However, that creates tremendous risk to our national security should someone tape an ecounter or collect other evidence that could be used to blackmail the President of the United States.

The transparency he promised and ending "business as usual" is an all encompassing philosophy and goes far beyond the strict "operational end of the government". Pork/Ear Marks were perfectly acceptable "operational ends of the government", but everyone realized they were flat out wrong and that's why he campaigned on ending them (even though he didn't). And everyone knows it's flat out wrong that a man who advocates Socialism/Marxism is charging the US government money for the Secret Service agents who are protecting him and his family. He should be damn thankful they are there and happy to provide them with his stupid little cottage. Especially for a party who keeps screaming that the wealthy among us need to sacrifice for our government.

I'm not a liberal, per se; and you're not a conservative - you're a troll.

You're barking up the wrong tree on this Rott.

Why is Biden NOT entitled to fair and just compensation for the use of his property?

I have a freaking boatload of other stuff I'm pissed about from this administration. This is a pimple on a fleas ass, as far as I am concerned.

Maybe you should ask Mr. Hopey-Changey, whoever that is. The only propaganda I see is that you made this about Biden. Why not Bush? You think he wasn't getting something from the SS for the space they took up at Crawford? The "truth" is something YOU seem to have trouble with. It's easy to pick out anything that's stayed the same and throw out that charge. Did he promise to eliminate such payments? If not, you're just cherry-picking a controversy to spread your own propaganda.

So you're admitting your comments were absurd and you have been thoroughly defeated in your argument? Ok - just so we're on the same page. You have no response so you have to post a personal attack. Surely you can do better than "troll". I mean, how devasted do you think I am that an idiot liberal called me a "troll"? Weak....
