What Is The Biggest Drawback Of Atheism?

The biggest drawback to atheism is what if they are wrong. I have nothing to lose if I am wrong and atheist are correct. But what if I am right and they are wrong?
Believe in Jesus as your personal savior, Trust in him, do the work of God, follow not the world. Do no harm to other's

If you are right and they are, GOD will forgive them because he is a forgiving GOD, right? I mean, as long as they've been good people and all...

There is no Christian doctrine that teaches that.

Nope if you don't have faith and trust in God you're going to burn in hell

I know atheists don't believe in hell. Thus, the drawback is death. Once an atheist dies according to their beliefs, then that's it.
Once a Christian dies according to atheist beliefs, then that's it. Wishing otherwise doesn't make it so.
I'm an agnostic that believes in re-incarnation. Which is much better than burning in hell.
Sounds like a contradiction to me. You believe or you don't.
God hasn't been proven, so I'm agnostic. But I think that re-incarnation is the most likely outcome.

If those are my choices, I'll take hell. That is a far cleaner fate than spending eternity with a god who burns people for that reason.

Neither one of those things addresses my comment.
I didn’t say they did.
Then why quote me?
Because I was making a different point.
But not addressing the post you quoted.
You had a point?

All I saw was a head stone with the word RIP.
That was a response to the OP, "how atheists see death". The point was death is the end.

You have to read the thread, these things are a progression.

So, the question seems to be is whether a comforting myth is preferable to reality.

Well, reality isn't all that clear. Pretty much the only argument that there is no god is the lack of evidence that there is. This is a logical fallacy and proves nothing. So they are all ultimately myths. Might as well pick the myth you find most comforting.
We've been searching for evidence for millennia. I'm thinking if he/she were there we'da found something.

Really? Based upon what would you think that?
If there's evidence out there the longer you look the more likely you are to find it, or just stumble across it when you aren't even looking for that matter.

Comparing the size of the planet to the universe and the time we have been looking to the age of the universe, I would have to say that, for practical purposes, we haven't even begun to look. It's all unsupported assumptions applied to blind guesses. The reality is that even if we did find something we almost certainly wouldn't know it because we don't even have a clue what it is we are looking for. It's ALL myth, so pick the one that makes you happy.
^this^ is all self reinforcing sophistry.

How so? What specifically did I say that is wrong?

......so--are you saying people who don't believe cannot have as many or cannot have any blessings as those who do??!!!
my life is HORRIBLE
please give me the knowledge and wisdom to make it better

Embrace humility in anyway you can. At least be more humble than you were the day before. Every morning make a goal if bringing joy to one person. You will never please yourself. Humans are never satisfied but your new obsession of bringing joy to others will distract you from your misery.

Try it for one day. Assume you worthless and the only value you have is improving the life of others.
??? worthless???

Yes. Worthless. You have no value to offer yourself. You will always be dissatisfied. You have no value outside of what you do for others.

Yes. These are Christian concepts but they work for anybody. Try it today. Name a person in your head and do something great for them. If you aren't very creative then give a random person $20. Then see how the rest of your day goes.
1 Timothy:
money is the root of all evil
!!!!!!!
Actually it's the love of money
money is the root of all evil:
if no money - no evil
you can't have the love of money WITHOUT the money
hahahahahahhahaah
Bible Gateway passage: 1 Timothy 6:10 - King James Version

there is no drawback to being an atheist--plain and simple

so what are you saying??
there is no proof of god --plain and simple
It is literally all around and in you.
sure it is
hahahahahhahahah
100%.

Laughing leads to crying.
I know that's what you do--you're crazy imagining fairies in the sky
I don't believe that is so. Angels of God intervene to help those who prize the Kingdom of God with heart, soul, mind and voice. There is no ego in their acts of love to people because their reward is knowing God's will and doing it with grace, longsuffering, and duty.

Atheism has consequences. Unless the adult was raised in a Christian home with taught goals and observances, atheism provides a lifelong sense of pointlessness, separation, and chaos. It goes perfect with socialism, and could result in isolationism that brings a society into becoming a vassal nation. That is my opinion.

Even so, believers might consider asking our good Lord to have mercy on those who fail to believe, because oftentimes, we as Christians may have a flaw that becomes exaggerated to the poor in spirit, and the book of Jude cautions us all:

Jude 1: 22 And have mercy on those who doubt.

I see no evidence that atheism does any of those things.
That's because things of the soul remain unseen to the spiritually blind. It's okay, since seeing spiritual strength is not on the atheist agenda, and it is brutal interference in the material world we can see, hear, touch, smell, and taste. Christ didn't invite Thomas the doubter into his discipleship because he was a spiritual man. He had to be shown those nail holes still visible in the risen Lord's palms and feet, so he could touch them and know it was actually the man who'd been nailed to the cross for cruel slaughter when falsely accused, arrested under suspicion, and returned to churchmen so the governor did not have to take any responsibility whatever for a lawsuit based on murdering an innocent man. The sacrificial lamb was thus taken to be murdered by soldiers so the elite didn't have to get their hands bloody, but it didn't take the stain from the evil spirits that owned the souls of these control freak revenge-seekers. Thomas was needed to show people like him who have to use their senses to believe, and the remedy to unbelief is effective prayer that begins with "Lord, please help me with my unbelief." Once in a while, a sensual man or woman has the opportunity to feel the nail holes after asking God to show them what they cannot see that other men and women can. People only try it when they want to turn their pointless life around and make it mean something while they are still alive. Just sayin'. Some are simply unmotivated to find spiritual joy, because it's their chosen escape.

Why are you so bitter? I'm not the one that is trying to convince anyone they are wrong
Maybe you are right there is no God I'm not trying to push the religion of atheism on anyone. I'm not ridiculing you or anyone else. If I'm wrong I can say I lived a good life stood up for what I believed in and no one was harmed. But if I'm right you're going to burn in hell.

I've seen far more "spiritual blindness" among those who claim to be Christians, and who then espouse beliefs that are the anthithesis of "Love one another as I have loved you", or "Blessed are the poor for they shall inherit the earth", or even "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". Love one another is Jesus' commandment to his followers. He eschewed politics and wealth. Hardly Republican values at all, and certainly not the values of the evangelical Christian right which is all about forcing their brand of Christianity upon the rest of the nation, all the while claiming they are under attack.

I don't know a single athiest who hasn't seriously considered questions of spirituality, and morality, and studied all of the great religions and rejected the "magical" stories of God in all of His power. And yet they are far more charitable, giving, honest and honorable, than any evangelical American I have ever met.
