What should be done with Sanctuary Cities?

Let's see. Who pays taxes?

Democrat supporters who leech off the taxpayer = no

Big government "programs" where the money disappears and helps nobody = no

Lawyers = no, they just take the existing pile of money and redistribute it to themselves

REPUBLICANS pay taxes. Businesses pay taxes. Individuals who WORK pay taxes.

Trump doesn't even pay taxes !

Where do you think the jobs are ? In our cities.

Who gets more welfare than farming ??? That is literally part of the welfare law .

Trump doesn't even pay taxes !

Still failing to understand TAX LOSS CARRYFORWARDS....

Trump's businesses have resulted in hundreds of billions of dollars paid in taxes, from the jobs he creates to the property taxes he does pay to the states and localities.

I will agree farmers get too much in the way of handouts.

DOJ Rewards Law-Breaking Sanctuary Cities, States with $342 Mil in “Grants”

Apparently this doesn’t apply to local governments that support the president’s broad open borders policies, even when they violate federal law. The DOJ doled out $342,168,401 to 10 sanctuary states and cities that proudly reject federal claims for criminal illegal aliens earmarked for removal, according to the agency’s independent watchdog.

Among them is Connecticut, a trailblazer in the sanctuary movement that received more than $69 million in grants from the DOJ. Connecticut has long protected illegal immigrants with sanctuary policies and even offers them special drivers’ licenses, known as Drive Only. The state also gives illegal aliens discounted tuition at public colleges and universities and authorities work hard to restrict the feds from deporting illegal immigrants. Last year an illegal immigrant who had spent 17 years in prison for attempted murder stabbed a 25-year-old woman to death in Norwich, a city of about 40,000 residents. The murderer had been earmarked for deportation at least three times.

$342 M,, that would pay for the wall and have money left over for ICE and Border Patrol! That worked out very well.... Wish I was on Trumps Advisory Board! ;)

All estimates of the cost of a "wall" say that it'll cost exponentially more than 342 million dollars.

Not to mention, the idea that the DOJ would stop handing out grants to the states you don't like is ludicrous.
I recall the estimated amolunt for the wall has been $100M. Grants should not be given to cities that are breaking the law.

I'd love to see that "estimate".

Just the amount of concrete needed would cost more than a billion dollars.

And there's no law against sanctuary cities.

It may have been an early conservative estimate. This is what I found:

But Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said a wall running the length of a border would cost too much. A 2,000 mile state-of-the-art border fence has been estimated to cost between four and eight billion dollars. Costs for a wall that would run the entire length of the border might be as low as $851 million for a standard 10-foot prison chain link fence topped by razor wire. For another $362 million, the fence could be electrified. A larger 12-foot tall, two-foot-thick concrete wall painted on both sides would run about $2 billion. Initially it was estimated that the San Diego fence would cost $14 million -- about $1 million a mile. The first 11 miles of the fence eventually cost $42 million -- $3.8 million per mile, and the last 3.5 miles may cost even more since they cover more difficult terrain. An additional $35 million to complete the final 3.5 miles was approved in 2005 by the Department of Homeland Security -- $10 million per mile.

So 15 miles of fence in San Diego cost 77 million dollars.

And you think a 2,000 mile wall will cost 100 million?

There is another way = LEGALIZE MARIJUANA and tax it.

THAT will help stem the flow of "bad hombres" who are here selling it and taking US cash back out of the country. We need those jobs, those taxdollars, and to cut off the oxygen of those gangs.

So what happened to the original costs stated by the left this February that quoted 15 to 25 million for the wall?
Once again a creep up in costs by the left. They do this every single time and the people fall for it every single time.
What part of we are 5.2 million in debt to Mexico do the left don't get?
Add that plus all the other unfair trade laws from other counties and it gets paid for.

Cut federal funding to the Sanctuary Cities. Let's see how strongly they feel about protecting criminal illegals when they have to use their own money to do so.

Any person working in American government who ignores federal immigration laws should lose their salaries and their pensions.

Cutting all funding is a good thing.

But not enough. Such blatant enmity against their fellow citizens is not answered properly with cutting off money.

Laws should be passed requiring reporting of known criminals, more laws should be passed to require local and state LE to arrests illegals they come across,

and officials that break these laws should be arrested, prosecuted and jailed.

I don't care if we have to arrest every asshole that walks into LA's mayor office for the next hundred years. Hell, we can move the office to the nearest federal prison, so that processing can go faster.

It's simple. The Obama regime chose to ignore immigration laws, that's why Trump was elected. You almost have to slap your head in utter disbelief that democrat Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel claims that illegal criminal aliens will be "safe" in Chicago when about 3,000 citizens have been murdered so far this year.

What happen to GOP being for state rights and local gov??? Now you are cool wh the Feds forcing local govs to be Ins agents ? On their own tab ?

The federal govt is not responsible for - and my tax dollars should not be used for - funding cities' criminal acts.

Because law enforcement should work together to enforce laws.

These cities in question are dying of their own weight as we speak. The USA needs only to wait as they die. When real estate lays vacant, when business folds, when folks move out, cities crumble. Look at Detroit for example. They had the automobile empire of America. Then OOP's! The same will happen elsewhere. The folks marching, burning and destroying are destroying their own property. Good for them. I still advocate for letting them destroy themselves. As public assistance dries up, then what? The angry mobs will destroy all the more. Good. I feel for the everyday Mom and Pop who have to leave the city for a better life because of nonworking students and the young, but that is what happens when you allow them to run the show. Let them kill off their own cities. It builds character. This, the USA is a large country with many nice areas to live. Turn these cities into what they are. It is not like we have not seen this coming for the last 80 years. Good bye Chicago, New York, Oakland, San Fran, LA. See you around! Of course they could do the right thing and re enter society. Time will tell.

The time has come for a real discussion about these cities. Just how much Federal funding has gone to keep these "cities" functioning?

Should our budget keep and protect people who are not citizens of this country and, by definition, have broken our laws?

We have a deficit and many want more and more government intervention into their affairs, costing astronomical amounts of money. We have a deficit. We have to cut back and foolishly susidizing those illegals that broke our laws to come is nonsensical.

How do you feel?
