What was a reason for God to sacrifice His Son?

No we're not. Because I'm beginning to decipher that our concept of sin differs, fundamentally.
Can you explain the fundamental differences in a non-cryptic sort of way?

I promise I can handle it.

I do not accept that we are born into sin. We transgress, along the way. But there is always the opportunity for redemption.

Now you.
I believe that we will sin as it is in our nature to love created things (mostly ourselves but not limited to that) more than we love the creator.

You still haven't addressed the issue of whether we are born into sin. And Jesus was supposed to have absolved that burden.
I think we disagree on what Jesus was supposed to have done. He defeated death. He defeated sin. He reconciled mercy with justice. But he did not change our nature. He only showed us how we can change our nature. We still have to transform ourselves.

And yes, I did answer your question.

You want to change your nature?

You are what you are.

What is your destination?

That is a question that was never answered.

Onward.

Yes, I am a creature. I want to be a son.

You are purposely being obtuse, my dear.

I thought we were "friends?"

No I'm not. I'm answering you to the best of my ability.

And you still haven't been clear to me about original sin.

I was honest when I answered that I don't believe in original sin the way others do. I even explained in great detail what I believe it is.

Why can't you be honest with the answer of where you believe your path leads you to?

Because I don't know. Death? Enlightenment?

How could I possibly know?

Well... you know that you believe that sin takes you off of your path, right?

Well you know there are many paths? The fork in the road?

The Road less Travelled? Have you read that book?

No. I'm not that well read.

Look, if you know that sin takes you off of your path but you don't know where your path leads you, I'm struggling to know how you can know you are off the path.

There are many paths, not all of them are desirable though.

I got sort of side tracked.

If you were anymore vague about this path it would be a meadow.

“I thought ... that I was carried in the will of Him I love, but now I see that I walk with it. I thought that the good things He sent drew me into them as the waves lift the islands; but now I see that it is I who plunge into them with my own legs and arms, as when we go swimming. I feel as if I were living in that roofless world of [Earth] where men walk undefended beneath naked heaven. It is a delight with terror in it! One's own self to be walking from one good to another, walking beside Him as Himself may walk, not even holding hands. How has He made me so separate from Himself? How did it enter His mind to conceive such a thing? The world is so much larger than I thought. I thought we went along paths--but it seems there are no paths. The going itself is the path.” C.S. Lewis

“We all want progress. But progress means getting nearer to the place where you want to be. And if you have taken a wrong turning then to go forward does not get you any nearer. If you are on the wrong road progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road and in that case the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive man. There is nothing progressive about being pig-headed and refusing to admit a mistake. And I think if you look at the present state of the world it's pretty plain that humanity has been making some big mistake. We're on the wrong road. And if that is so we must go back. Going back is the quickest way on.” C.S. Lewis
