If, as seems likely, tax reform with the SALT provision passes this year and becomes law next year five deep blue states will be on a ballistic path to chapter three bankruptcy within a year. The five states are CA, IL, MA, NJ, and NY. They have high taxes and huge unfunded liabilities. Combined with the fact that they are not quite one party states for the Ds the perp walks will be the bluest of the blue.

Benefit cuts, strikes, riots and radicalization will follow. The traditional D alliances will unravel so who and what will replace the Ds?

Democratic party campaigns have been funded by sky high state taxes for decades, the tax bill will kick the Democratic party right in the groin.

Dream on...I'm always amused at how the most horrible scenarios for some of our citizens, bring a smile to the faces of others--says something ugly about certain people's inner landscape.

PC does exaggerate the level of D corruption but not by much so Tax Reform will be a big shock.

You do realize that two of those states have had technical defaults since 2000, CA and IL, with the other three flirting with default. I am saying that the inevitable will come a little bit faster.

The empty headeness of the OP could be filled by the five states mentioned

BIG UPDATE, there, Will: the D's have already been gone for about 20 years, long since replaced by the Socialist Party.

Liberals took over and destroyed the Dem party, next they will attempt to identify as Independents and destroy that sector.

^^^ idiotic statement

The growing number of black Ds Pelosi is trying to toss out of the house is another factor to consider.

The liberals are fine. It's the Regressives who put the party in this position. They aren't liberals. That's the problem.

And the GOP, while in power now, isn't exactly firing on all cylinders, either. They're every bit as vulnerable.

I think we will become a 3 party system.
Republican's will be the center.
Socialists will be the left.
Tea Party will be the right.

Niki Haley is a Tea Party member.
A Pence/Haley ticket in 2024 would join the two.

2024? Nah. Trump has got to go..and the entire alt/right thing must be squashed. 3 parties? Sure..but let us not be fooled by names. We have the extreme Right, the extreme Left, and the middle. Right now, the extremes are driving the narrative--the middle is mostly ignored and misquoted.

Can the middle overcome their antipathy towards each other? Moderate R's and D's united? Against Gerrymandering? Against Identity politics? Against the extremists, on both sides?

So far, no one has risen above the crowd--too early, I guess..and we have not reached rock bottom yet.

I've always been in favor of a meritocracy..but that dog won't hunt.

Pence is tea party in all but name now. That is why I emphasize Blue fiscal policies. Either Trump or the Rs in congress are pulling a Chinese migration incentive only with tax rates. Combined with merit based immigration that will include sucking talent out of Asia and Europe we might just see double-digit GFP growth here too. Most of China's GDP growth was real estate based due to migration incentives, as will probably be true here if the tax bill passes.

Moderates like the Bushs and the Clintons? no way, I would vote Socialist before a return to that disaster and most of America feels the same way. The so-called moderate world police force can win only if all voters are required to be on LSD before entering the voting booth.
