In Canada, we ONLY go after the employers. We have 30,000 illegal immigrants in the whole country. Total. That would be like 300,000 in the USA. You have, what, 11 million?

Other first world countries are similar. You don't need a wall, you just need to arrest and fine the employers and stop them from feeding the strays.

(It is available at Amazon and fine booksellers everywhere). . The River of Pearl and Gold: A Story of Jamestown.

The first Africans that arrived at Jamestown in 1619 were not slaves. Under British Law at the time Christians could not be enslaved. The Dutch traders that brought the Africans to Jamestown knew this and baptized them prior to landing.

The blacks that arrived had a higher legal status than most of the whites who were legally "indentured servants." Indentured servants were basically slaves for seven years. They would get their freedom after 7 years if they survived. 90% died.

What we know as chattel slavery slowly came into legal existence by the 1650's. So even the initial premise of the 1619 Project is wrong. Poor commie Dims, they can't get anything right.

He believes that slavery was an assumed way of life for those who did not have the Judeo-Christian view, from Genesis, that we were made to be free.


The recent thought-provoking book by Professor Jason D. Hill compares the peoples on the continent of Africa with the Europeans for the purpose of explaining the willful acceptance of slavery by both the former and the latter. It was not that the Africans didn’t have the technology or the weapons to resist slavery imposed on them……it was that they saw no problem with the condition. It was European’s advancement, due to concepts derived from religion, right and wrong, justice, the importance of each human life, that had moved the European from a customization with such a condition.

Thanks. It is a bit unclear when chattel slavery became fully legal. I have read many of the source documents from the early Virginia House of Burgesses. The guess is somewhere between the mid 1650's to early 1660's. Some blacks did become indentured servants by choice, for the promise of eventually getting land. But in reality they had no defined legal status.

It is still highly ironic that the 1619 Project does not know or understand a basic fact of history. Blacks were not slaves when they arrived in 1619. It took decades before that happened and became a legal reality.
