Video of Trump bragging about the height of Trump Tower in 9/11 aftermath resurfaces

I will never forget where I was on 9/11 --- I was on my way to work, listening to Sports Radio when the radio hosts in real time started talking about a story they saw developing on their TV screens -- Initially they thought it was an plane accident until they saw the second plane hit -- you could hear the gasp in their voice, one of the most surreal moments in my life.

So....where were you when this terrorist attack happened?? Also, where were you when on that same day, Trump took to the airwaves to brag about having the tallest building in NYC??

At least for some, there was a silver lining to this tragedy....

A silver lining, where?

I was driving into Manhattan in order to get over to Jersey City. There were planes circling above me so low I thought they were all crashing. It was crazy.

I turned on the radio and heard what happened so then I just turned around and went home.

Trump was as callous then as he is today

Work. Read about an incident at the WTC. Called the wife to put on the news, right when the second jet hit......

I was at home, and had just stepped out of the shower and saw the news (part of my morning routine was to turn on the news as soon as I got up), and was wondering who had screwed up, was it pilot error, mechanical error, or air controller error? Then, just as soon as I finished putting on my uniform, the second jet hit the other tower. It was then that I knew something was wrong and rushed to work.

Got to the MEPS in Amarillo (was LPO and Head Classifier for the Navy), called San Antonio and asked what we were to do. We were told to get all the applicants back with their recruiters and send them home. When all the applicants were gone, then we were to leave, because they weren't sure if attacks would happen to military facilities. Well, just as I had gotten in touch with the last applicant's recruiter, one of the Army guys came in and said the Pentagon had just been hit.

As far as where was I when Trump started bragging about his building? Dunno, never paid attention to that. Spent most of the rest of that day riding my Harley and thinking about what could happen next.

I had flown from Newark NJ to Tucson AZ the night before
I woke up at 6AM their time and turned on the TV to see a tower on fire. Shortly after I saw the second plane hit.

All flights were grounded and it took me four days to get another flight home

Yeah, that was one thing that threw a wrench into my workday for a while. When all the planes were grounded, that meant that the applicants who had already enlisted and were supposed to go to boot camp had to have their date changed as we didn't send anyone to boot camp for about 3 days because of the grounding.

That in itself was a major pain in the ass.

I had an eye doctor appointment with Dr. Vaughn Hoglan that same afternoon. That morning they called and cancelled saying there was a family emergency. I thought it was kind of strange and wondered if there was a connection to the tragedy.

In following appointments, they had a tribute to his nephew, Mark Bingham at the front desk.

Dr. Hoglan is a very kind and caring doctor that always left me surprised.

Mark Bingham - Wikipedia

Bingham was survived by his parents, and Hoagland family members who played a part in his upbringing: his grandparents Betty and Herbert Hoagland, his aunt Candyce Hoagland, his uncles Lee, Linden and Vaughn Hoagland. He is survived as well by his stepmother and various stepsiblings.

My classroom. A student came running from a classroom down the hall saying something bad was happening in New York; teacher's husband had called her from home. We got the office to turn on the closed circuit TV's, a few minutes before the first tower fell. I taught a lot of tough kids, but they were shook, too. The coverage sucked; there was nothing from any authorities, not NY, not Washington or even the President; just endless pics of the planes hitting, the towers falling and the smoke rising over Manhattan. When we heard the rumor that the Pentagon got hit, I got scared, waiting for the other shoe to drop. We were under attack and didn't know who or why or where we'd get hit next.

My first instinct was to be with ALL my family--that was scattered over three states and I wasn't near any of them. One of the teachers who was retired military peeled me off the ceiling and reassured me the President had figured out it was an act of war, that we'd be okay.

And we were, except for the thousands that died. I don't know if it was just a crummy tv station we were watching (the office controlled it) but the vacuum of news that morning was as scary as anything that happened to the Towers. We heard the President was flying around in a plane somewhere out west and I'm sure the bastards in Congress and them were all safely locked in a secure bunker somewhere, since of course the country couldn't survive without their bullshit.

There's real tears there.

I also remember how I felt about a week after the attacks when I heard one of the victims in the Pentagon attack was a young woman named Jamie Lynn Fallon. She was someone who had served on the USNS CONCORD (TAFS-5) with me, and I had been the one to type up her orders and help her get screened for Pentagon duty. I remember the day she got the orders, she was super psyched to be going to DC.

I did a calculation on PRD (projected rotation date) for her, and she was only a few months away from getting a new duty station when she was killed. She and I had been stationed together only 3 years before when we were on the CONCORD.

I'd tell you where I was but your insatiable need to bring Trump into it disgusts me.

I was watching CNN. They were still reporting it as a fire.

Then the second plane arced in ...

I had driven to Cox Cable early in the morning to discuss my cable service. When I entered the building an entire wall of big screen TV's were all on the same channel that was showing a very tall building with smoke pouring out the top. There was a crowd of about 30 people standing there watching so I joined them. One person commented that an airplane had flown into the the skyscraper.

I stood there for a few minutes watching the spectacle, but it had gotten boring, so I decided to finish my business and drive back home.

Just as I started to turn and leave a large airliner slammed into the the second building. The entire crowd in unison made an audible gasp. Then one man in the stunned crowd of people said, "They have done it again"!!

At that exact moment, I knew who the "they" was he was referring to, and that it wasn't going to be good. ...

Foxwoods resort and casino, in Connecticut, we were on vacation and had stayed the night at the Grand Pequot Hotel there....

Could not get home fast enough... our home was about an hour's drive north...

It was the most beautiful, clear blue sky day.... filled with sadness, and fear...
