Folks, our leaders are cowards. Cowards with mile wide yellow streaks.
Panderers and demagogues. That's the American Politiburo today.
All this huffing and puffing over domestic spying. Bloviating and playing to the rubes. Hearings and opinings.
And yet not. One. Bill.
Not one piece of legislation outlawing any further domestic spying on Americans. Not one scaling back of these powers.

You want to know why?
For the same reason Obama continues Bush's War on Terra.
For the same reason they don't close Gitmo.
You see, no politician wants to be That Guy. That Guy who scaled back the War on Terra right before the next attack.
You think all this sweaty sex over Benghazi is bad? Just imagine what the mad mob would do to That Guy who rolled out legislation rolling back the War on Terra!
The paragons of power-loving pols have become too accustomed to that 98 percent re-election rate they enjoy. It gives these yellow-bellied snakes the cold shivers and heebie jeebies to think of how quickly they would be not re-elected if there was another terror attack and the rubes formed up a lynch mob.
Guess who would be strung up?
Yeah. That Guy.
So they bloviate. They opine. They pound their fists and go on the talking head circuit to decry the despoiling of their precious Constitution.
But they do...nothing.
Right after the next attack, the very people who right now are protesting all this stuff? They will be rolling out the sequel to this shit, Patriot Act: Reloaded. Meter maids authorized to waterboard double parkers. Anal ultrasounds before your flight.
They probably already have a shrink-wrapped copy in their desk drawers. And rubes will be right there with them, urging them on.
Not even Rand Paul has the guts to roll out a bill right now.
