Children, 22 dogs found living in filthy conditions in AZ
BULLHEAD CITY, AZ (FOX5) -
Police in Bullhead City, AZ, said four people were cited Tuesday when children and more than 20 dogs were found to be living in "filthy conditions."
Officers served a search warrant at a home on Bueno Road after being contacted by child protective services.
In a report, police noted the home reeked of urine and feces. There were cockroaches throughout the house and the floors were covered in feces and trash.
Child protective services took custody of five children, ages 5, 6, 7, 9 and 10.
Police said there were locks on the refrigerator and food cabinets so the children couldn't access them. The children said they hadn't been outside in several months.
Police located two weak and thin Labradors inside the home's garage and 20 dachshunds inside the house. All 22 dogs were turned over to animal controls.
The Labradors will be seen by a veterinarian. The dachshunds will be put up for adoption once deemed healthy.
Bullhead City Code Enforcement declared the home unsafe and uninhabitable.
James Andrew Brown, 26, was cited for maintenance of animal premises, and animal cruelty and neglect.
His sister, Sherri Lynn Brown, 50, who owned the dachshunds, was cited for not having an animal license, violation of pet limit and maintenance of animal premises.
Sherri Lynn Brown's husband, Edward Andrew Brown, 57, was taken into custody and charged with disorderly conduct after yelling profanities at officers.
Sherri Lynn Brown's daughter, Trista Fay Parrott, 29, faces charges of child neglect and delinquency of a child.
