There is zero probability that the Senate will convict with fifty senators already condemning the house's new rules as unconstitutional. The Ds stand a good chance of being busted for violating President Trump's Civil rights at the request of the senate. This is unusually stupid even for the Ds. What are these idiots up to?

They are exposing their unconstitutional and unethical conduct. Making the democrats vote on the deprivation of DUE PROCESS will destroy the democrat party for decades.. Once that vote is taken and approved by the democrats they will wear that mill stone around their necks for a very long time..

I can already see the campaign adds about democrats wanting to deprive Americans of their constituional rights just like they did Trump.. It is not going to end well with any of the moderates in battle ground states.. They will lose 2020 in a historic land slide.

It's funny to see the Senate whine about a process they have no say in whatsoever. The same process used by Republicans to investigate every leaf that fell from tree Obama. A process already ruled legal by a federal judge.
All the while Trumpybear's Administration itself is obstructing due process by ignoring legally issued subpoenas.

Read the Constitution the courts are not over the executive branch

They are trying to counter the Horowitz report that will show so bad shit went down..

But no "branch" is over the House. The const says it, and the senate, determine their own rules. And Courts do determine what power the const conveys to "branches." And the House has the power of impeachment. Even to determine what is impeachable.

they are part of the process. you should read up on who takes a president out of office. it isn't the house. So the dems can't do it. sorry to burst your bubble big guy

And the executive can still ignore it

When you are a Democrat and you take money from Mexican Drug Cartels, The Chinese, Russia, Iran, and other enemies of THE US, and Donald Trump is trying to put a stop to your corruption, you either run like Hell, or you fight like Hell because you know if you are exposed, you are going to jail for a long long time.

The Problem with The Democrat Party is that People Like The Bidens, Clitnons, Obamas, Pelosi, Schummers, and Nadlers have been talking bribes, kickbacks and payoffs for decades, so this has become the Normal Standard Operating Procedure in Washington.

Trump wants to upset their Apple Cart, so they are trying to get to him, for they get to them.

BB, are you saying because the Senate is not conducting the inquiry, they should ignore it and not prepare for the result? Is that what you would want your state's Senator to do?

No, the House has the power to subpoena according to its rules if the purpose is to investigate something the house has power to do … including impeachment. Whether the Courts exercise their power to shield the potus or to allow congress to use it's power …. well, we'll see. But neither the congress nor the exec or the courts have the "power" to ignore the power of the others. It's something you apparently missed called "checks and balances."

There is no executive privilege in the Constitution either.

It is unlikely Republicans will put the country over their own political interests

I see maybe five Republicans voting to impeach which would mean a majority in the House and Senate voted to remove him from office

That would further give Trump an invalid Presidency with most of the country and most of the Congress having voted against him

Not a good place to be in an election year

Nixon should have gone to court. they had no authority to make him turn over anything.

The Trumpublican Senators are under no obligation to tell the public the truth, they are not under oath.

Nothing illegal or improper is being done by the House in it's investigation of President "Corelone".
