Why Socialism Is Not Just Undesirable, But Impossible

Go ask a librarian for a history book ;)

Can't back that up then?
Are you seriously suggestion monopolies didn't happen and Anti-trust legislation was a bad thing?

Supreme_Court_History-antitrust.jpg

Monopolies did and do happen, thanks to the government. And yes Anti-Trust legislation was a bad thing.

Kev can't comprehend that the unions and the gov't are the same thing. They're both bodies formed to represent the masses from those who would oppress and exploit them. The fight of the laborer against the corporation mirrors that of the peasant against the lord and the patriot against the king.
^ This.

Is incorrect.

In my prior conversations with Kev, I have learned he is sorely lacking in any depth of history.

I suspect he is a teenager, and for that I cut him slack. He is a good little soldier for the conservative libertarians. God bless his ...er, sole. [sic]

I'm 21, so not quite a teenager. Though I would say I am lacking no depth to my history and it is you two who have so far failed to prove any of your points historically.

Really? Is it the union or the gov't that you assert is not a body formed by the masses to represent and protect their interests? :cuckoo:

Kevin dearest,

I have made my living as a capitalist in the field of history for two decades. I have had documents and letters of nearly every President and most Founders pass through my hands; I have worked with the personal letters and documents of the Rockefellers' (all of them), J. Paul Getty, John Jacob Astor, Andrew Carnegie, Jay Cooke, J.P. Morgan, et al...I have been inside the vaults of the New York Stock Exchange as a consultant, (which go back to 1790's. ...)
I think I know a leettle about which I speak.

I really don't think you have any idea of the context of history, as I see it, one who has held it personally in my hand, and seen it from the inside.
I give your young soul credit for it's passion and enthusiasm, I give it little for its accuracy.

Godspeed in your travels as you age...God knows, I remember what it was like to be young and stupid like you.

I don't dispute that's what they were formed to do

Then you retract your earlier stupidity?

Well I'm not sure I've posted any stupidity, and if you look at the part of my quote that you cut off there I think it would be clear that I don't intend to retract anything I've said.

So rather than address any point I've made you'd rather appeal to authority and belittle me because of my age? Well if that doesn't prove that you're the intellectual superior I don't know what does.

Ah...youth.

So cute.

Yes, Kevin, 30 years of study does tend to incapacitate the passions and nubile, innocent ideologies of youth. Sorry.

Thank you. (though I sense the sarcasm in there. I could be wrong.)

In this arena, yes, I have a unique perspective. I will admit to pulling rank on you on this. I apologize.

Other areas I may lack, but not this.

If you don't think owning, touching, transcribing and loving the original letters and documents of some our history's most profound movers and shakers, and making a living at it as I do, for as long as I have - working with historical societies, major museums, as well as the National Archives, my peers being those who touch history every day - doesn't tend to shape ones view uniquely,
I don't know what to tell you.

I will say again, I admire your passion. But you are wrong.

You're right, I was being sarcastic.

No, I'm pretty sure I didn't.

I don't dispute that's what they were formed to do, but I'd certainly dispute that that is what they accomplish.

Backpedaling: because you realized how stupid your post was.

You're once again ignoring the latter part of that post.
