Why Socialism Is Not Just Undesirable, But Impossible

A pure market entrepreneur, or capitalist, succeeds financially by selling a newer, better, or less expensive product on the free market without any government subsidies, direct or indirect. The key to his success as a capitalist is his ability to please the consumer, for in a capitalist society the consumer ultimately calls the economic shots
Sorry, Kev, but if I buy up all the resources (or my grandad did), you buy whatever I sell you

Wrong. Government intervention broke up the monopolies. Is a true capitalist society, personal/business success leads to the largest companies assuming control of the majority of resources and keeping the ma&pop shops from being able to compete as the big boxes can buy in bulk and sell their goods at lower process while still making a profit. Capitalism is highly predatory and exploitative in nature and is ultimately self-destructive (see the USA and the outsourcing of goods in search of more profit and the resulting impact on the American economy.) Such corporations can then purchase politicians and the cycle of corruption really begins. The US went through this all once before

Government regulation keeps small businesses out of the market by making it nearly impossible for them to comply while their larger competition can afford to abide by the regulations. Thus leading to a true monopoly.
larger businesses can afford to bribe.

When the gov't keeps the small businesses from competing, it's usually because the politicians' campaigns were paid for by the big businesses

You really think a link to the Mises Institute is somehow a persuasive rebuttal?

Yes, especially considering they accurately predicted the recession we're currently in, and Ludwig von Mises himself accurately predicted the Great Depression and the Soviet Union's collapse.

When has that ever happened?

You're right, but how does that constitute a free market if the government is getting involved?

Go ask a librarian for a history book ;)

How omniscient. lol.

Whadda braintrust there. Who could have predicted that?

Mises had his moments, but history does not lift him nearly as high as you wish him..the cacophony of more sound voices rises far above his.

You love him, as well as Mr. Rockwell. We get that.

We also get you are a child aflutter in the real world.

<throws Ranidan petals your way>

Gov't regulation can also help them compete by keeping th big companies at bay

w/out the aid of the gov't, small businesses can never compete.

So why didn't your Keynesians predict it then?

Yet you said yourself that the big companies work with the government to keep the small businesses out.

When the masses choose an elective gov't to represent them, those who wish to oppress or exploit them invariably seek to corrupt/buy/intimidate those elected to represent them. The masses are always struggling against tyrants.

Can't back that up then?
Are you seriously suggestion monopolies didn't happen and Anti-trust legislation was a bad thing?

Kev can't comprehend that the unions and the gov't are the same thing. They're both bodies formed to represent the masses and protect them and their interests from those who would oppress and exploit them. The fight of the laborer against the corporation mirrors that of the peasant against the lord and the patriot against the king.

This didn't clarify your contradictory points in the least.
