Why?

Gotta have money to start a business. Believe me that's her dream and I support that...but it takes something we don't have. MONEY

research the issue - you spend on this board way too much time - you might find places in this country which help people get loans for starting small business.

From what I've heard firsthand, NYC is not the place for that exactly now, but Grandpa from Kansas said it's booming out there ( restaurants). Maybe people here can have some ideas about possibilities of getting a loan for the small business start.

Your wife might need some additional education - some schools help with first jobs placing - but you guys should be willing to move ( does not look like you have a lot to loose).

You can't just despair. it's not getting you anywhere.

believe me, you can make it. you just need to have a good plan and work hard on it.

Why the Waltons?

Why does all of this matter? Walmart, the country’s largest private employer pays its associates an average of $8.81 an hour.[4] That means even full-time workers at Walmart make an average of just $15,500 a year. The Waltons make billions a year off of Walmart, while many Walmart associates struggle for respect on the job and enough pay just to make ends meet. As the largest corporation in the United States, Walmart sets the standard for other companies. Walmart’s practices put pressure on many other businesses to lower wages and benefits in order to compete. - See more at: Why the Waltons?

Just to point this out when my wife first worked at Wal Mart she started off at 7.65$ went to 8.05. She then left because I found work...she went back 2 years later and was making 8.90$ that's it. So maybe an average of 17k a year....I would love to see someone here life off that.

well, my first job was 5$ per hour in a pastry shop. But I didn't whine and groan.
If you do not want the job where you live you should move to some place where jobs are more available.
If your wife is a good chief then maybe it is worth to strat your own business in food industry? But again, in a bigger place, probably. You or her can also add some degrees and make yourself more marketable

However with an attitude "they OWE ME!!!" you won't get anywhere.
Maybe you should just move to California and wind up on a taxpayers tab

they both are young, have three kids and are poor - that is usually the requirement.
anyway, if people coming here illegally can make it - the native born American sure can and should.
Native born has a jump start worth at least 20K :D

Yup. Life is easy in a Pub great recession, anyone can start a business with no money, and Hitler was a socialist- LOL! Morons.

No one says life is easy. Life is tough even in good times.

The key is not to stop trying and finding new ways of succeeding.

The key is figuring out which party lies and ruins the country.See sig for what you're not told and the bs you are. Things get better under Dems, despite Pub sabotage...

Last time i checked both parties lied and are ruining the country.

It's up to the workers to unionize and demand a fair wage. You're pretty much worth what you think you're worth. Smart union people should be talking to dock workers to strike in sympathy, other unions to boycott.

Talking isn't going to raise their pay.

Why are so many here control freaks who think the government should micro manage all of our private relationships...including the ones between employers and employees?

Why are companies allowed to treat their workers like slaves? And none of this bullshit about finding a different job..that's bullshit...they need to provide a livable wage when 6 of these sons of bitches make more than 30% of low income americans do.

why are liberals such whiny asses? and what businesses do you own and what is the LIVABLE wage you pay?
and nobody IS FORCED to go on the TAXPAYERS DOLE...just losers who don't want to work and sit on message boards to bitch about what others pay

What education/training/unique skill do you need to work at walmart? Maybe walmart pays less so they can charge less? businesses do not pay wages based on what the worker needs...they pay based on what the business can afford.

Actually, they do pay based on what the worker needs. Ass-u-me-ing a relatively free labor market. If there wasn't someone waiting in the wings whose 'need' was a job, ready to snag that Wal-Mart job at the drop of a pink slip, the Waltons and other corporations would have to pay more.

You guys didn't think the unemployment rate wasn't EXACTLY where the corporations wanted it did you?
