A woman's left hand was severely injured after she allegedly sneaked into the Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium early Sunday to pet a tiger and was bitten when she reached into the animal's cage, Omaha police said.

The woman, Jacqueline Eide, 33, was cited by Omaha police for criminal trespass after they were called to Creighton University Medical Center regarding a disturbance involving a patient with an injured hand.

That patient, identified as Eide, was aggressive toward staff and showed signs of intoxication, police said. A friend had taken Eide to the hospital after she was bitten.

Eide remained at the hospital Sunday.
