Yevgeny Balitsky, whom Moscow appointed as the “governor” of the occupied Zaporizhia region, admits the fact of “a fire at the Zaporizhzhya NPP cooling system facility.” He calls the fire the result of shelling by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.



“As a result of the shelling of Energodar by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, a fire broke out at the Zaporizhzhya NPP cooling systems facility […] Emergencies Ministry employees are working at the site of the fire, and the fires are being eliminated,” Balitsky wrote in a telegram.

Ukraine's Nikopol District Military Administration previously reported that the fire was in a cooling tower (which can be described as a cooling system facility) and was caused by the burning of a large number of tires.
