14 POINTS OF FASCISM

(This sure sounds like the white christian teabagger party formally known as the republican party)

(The 14 Points was written in 2004 by Dr. Laurence Britt, a political scientist. Dr. Britt studied the fascist regimes of: Hitler (Germany), Mussolini (Italy), Franco (Spain) All Right-wing regimes)

1. Powerful and continuing expressions of nationalism

From the prominent displays of flags and bunting to the ubiquitous lapel pins, the fervor to show patriotic nationalism, both on the part of the regime itself and of citizens caught up in its frenzy, was always obvious. Catchy slogans, pride in the military, and demands for unity were common themes in expressing this nationalism. It was usually coupled with a suspicion of things foreign that often bordered on xenophobia.

2. Disdain for the importance of human rights

The regimes themselves viewed human rights as of little value and a hindrance to realizing the objectives of the ruling elite. Through clever use of propaganda, the population was brought to accept these human rights abuses by marginalizing, even demonizing, those being targeted. When abuse was egregious, the tactic was to use secrecy, denial, and disinformation.

3. Identification of enemies/scapegoats as a unifying cause

The most significant common thread among these regimes was the use of scapegoating as a means to divert the people’s attention from other problems, to shift blame for failures, and to channel frustration in controlled directions. The methods of choice—relentless propaganda and disinformation—were usually effective. Often the regimes would incite “spontaneous” acts against the target scapegoats, usually communists, socialists, liberals, Jews, ethnic and racial minorities, traditional national enemies, members of other religions, secularists, homosexuals, and “terrorists.” Active opponents of these regimes were inevitably labeled as terrorists and dealt with accordingly.

4. The supremacy of the military/avid militarism

Ruling elites always identified closely with the military and the industrial infrastructure that supported it. A disproportionate share of national resources was allocated to the military, even when domestic needs were acute. The military was seen as an expression of nationalism, and was used whenever possible to assert national goals, intimidate other nations, and increase the power and prestige of the ruling elite.

5. Rampant sexism

Beyond the simple fact that the political elite and the national culture were male-dominated, these regimes inevitably viewed women as second-class citizens. They were adamantly anti-abortion and also homophobic. These attitudes were usually codified in Draconian laws that enjoyed strong support by the orthodox religion of the country, thus lending the regime cover for its abuses.

6. A controlled mass media

Under some of the regimes, the mass media were under strict direct control and could be relied upon never to stray from the party line. Other regimes exercised more subtle power to ensure media orthodoxy. Methods included the control of licensing and access to resources, economic pressure, appeals to patriotism, and implied threats. The leaders of the mass media were often politically compatible with the power elite. The result was usually success in keeping the general public unaware of the regimes’ excesses.

7. Obsession with national security

Inevitably, a national security apparatus was under direct control of the ruling elite. It was usually an instrument of oppression, operating in secret and beyond any constraints. Its actions were justified under the rubric of protecting “national security,” and questioning its activities was portrayed as unpatriotic or even treasonous.

8. Religion and ruling elite tied together

Unlike communist regimes, the fascist and protofascist regimes were never proclaimed as godless by their opponents. In fact, most of the regimes attached themselves to the predominant religion of the country and chose to portray themselves as militant defenders of that religion. The fact that the ruling elite’s behavior was incompatible with the precepts of the religion was generally swept under the rug. Propaganda kept up the illusion that the ruling elites were defenders of the faith and opponents of the “godless.” A perception was manufactured that opposing the power elite was tantamount to an attack on religion.

9. Power of corporations protected

Although the personal life of ordinary citizens was under strict control, the ability of large corporations to operate in relative freedom was not compromised. The ruling elite saw the corporate structure as a way to not only ensure military production (in developed states), but also as an additional means of social control. Members of the economic elite were often pampered by the political elite to ensure a continued mutuality of interests, especially in the repression of “have-not” citizens.

10. Power of labor suppressed or eliminated

Since organized labor was seen as the one power center that could challenge the political hegemony of the ruling elite and its corporate allies, it was inevitably crushed or made powerless. The poor formed an underclass, viewed with suspicion or outright contempt. Under some regimes, being poor was considered akin to a vice.

11. Disdain and suppression of intellectuals and the arts

Intellectuals and the inherent freedom of ideas and expression associated with them were anathema to these regimes. Intellectual and academic freedom were considered subversive to national security and the patriotic ideal. Universities were tightly controlled; politically unreliable faculty harassed or eliminated. Unorthodox ideas or expressions of dissent were strongly attacked, silenced, or crushed. To these regimes, art and literature should serve the national interest or they had no right to exist.

12. Obsession with crime and punishment

Most of these regimes maintained Draconian systems of criminal justice with huge prison populations. The police were often glorified and had almost unchecked power, leading to rampant abuse. “Normal” and political crime were often merged into trumped-up criminal charges and sometimes used against political opponents of the regime. Fear, and hatred, of criminals or “traitors” was often promoted among the population as an excuse for more police power.

13. Rampant cronyism and corruption

Those in business circles and close to the power elite often used their position to enrich themselves. This corruption worked both ways; the power elite would receive financial gifts and property from the economic elite, who in turn would gain the benefit of government favoritism. Members of the power elite were in a position to obtain vast wealth from other sources as well: for example, by stealing national resources. With the national security apparatus under control and the media muzzled, this corruption was largely unconstrained and not well understood by the general population.

14. Fraudulent elections

Elections in the form of plebiscites or public opinion polls were usually bogus. When actual elections with candidates were held, they would usually be perverted by the power elite to get the desired result. Common methods included maintaining control of the election machinery, intimidating and disenfranchising opposition voters, destroying or disallowing legal votes, and, as a last resort, turning to a judiciary beholden to the power elite.

(And that fits the jesusland party to a tee (bag)) :eusa_whistle:

Spose we should cite the 25 steps then. Between the dems and rethugs we've got the bases covered.

Not true. Individuals without credentials specific to their cases appeal government and corporate decisions successfully every day. The idea academic "authorities" are any more authoritative seems a wee bit precious - sophomoric if ye ken me point here, lad. Especially in the areas of politics, government and economics where credentials are little more than an expensive joke on all sides of most equations.

I agree with your assessment, anyone who listens to Limbaugh, Hannity, or Beck and accepts them as an authority without any credentials is a half-wit. Three college dropouts are major voices within the republican part.

Tut tut, there, m'boy. Ye do yerseff no favers there.

That amount of sophomoric pedanticism pretending to definitive knowledge must originate in some northeastern local school; like maybe the Birmingham projects?

Your not fooling anyone. You already proved you're both an idiot and a king sized sucker.

14 POINTS OF FASCISM

(This sure sounds like the white christian teabagger party formally known as the republican party)

Here is a response from my friend A to you, Polkow. On each point. - Jeri

Response: Check your facts the tea party replaced progressives both democrat and republican. This is not a republican movement. you will find many examples of the republicans attacking tea party favorites like Rand Paul. Just because you say something does not mean it is fact. Please check what is the truth. The republican party still exists.

(The 14 Points was written in 2004 by Dr. Laurence Britt, a political scientist. Dr. Britt studied the fascist regimes of: Hitler (Germany), Mussolini (Italy), Franco (Spain) All Right-wing regimes)

Response: And Dr. Britt is spot on in many of the examples below. Keep in mind that not all 14 have to present to reign in a Hitler and we shouldn't limit ourselves to his 14 points. The author is a many like any other man making an observation from a fixed point of view hence a limited perspective. Dr Britt's review is not scientific it is observational. He did a wonderful and pretty comprehensive job based on his limited and focused education.

Response: This is a wonderful observation. Wasn't there something in the news about the Pre POTUS not wearing a lapel pin or placing his hand over his heart then all of the sudden there was a big deal about him wearing the lapel pin and the flags moved closer to podium? I tried to find another time in American history where there was a single mention of lapel pins and it doesn't seem to exist. I did find things about ribbons. I can't find any reference regarding the tea party suspicions of things foreign. I am not sure how this observation applies in America because everyone in america is foreign (yes there is evidence that the American Indians crossed the Bering Straits).

Response: I agree wholeheartedly. Regimes do not honor human rights because if you believe that your rights are government given then the government can take them away. If your rights are god given then only god can take them away. The tea party is pretty strong on this point that is why the outrage over drone strikes on US citizens (Rand Paul did the filibuster a couple weeks ago and wasn't joined by a single POTUS supporter). The tea party is outraged by absence of habeas corpus by this president even going so far as to issue an execution without the rule of law. "Secrecy and Denial and disinformation" are considered the hallmarks of the "Fast and Furious" and the "Benghazi" debacle. The founders left a tyrannical government so the constitution is to reign in the government however the POTUS says-

"Obama characterizes the Constitution as “a charter of negative liberties,” which “says what the states can’t do to you (and) what the Federal government can’t do to you, but doesn’t say what the Federal government or State government
must do on your behalf.” (Ask not what you can do for your country but what your country can do for you, to paraphrase John F. Kennedy)."

Dr Britt is spot on and we should give great thought and concern over this issue. The Tea Party is very strong on the constitution. The Tea Party is very strong on maximum freedom and maximum responsibility.

Response: The line above is actually a misquote and language was added but there is enough content remaining to still drive the point home. Please list all the presidents in the history of the united states that have blamed the previous president for all of the economic woes. That list would be one. Please list all the presidents that listed christian families and those that served the united states in battle as "terrorists threats." It may be "usually communist, socialists…" but that certainly doesn't apply now does it? Produce a list of scape goats or a single incident from the tea party. One senator was proven a liar when he said a "tea bagger' spit on him. What the liar didn't think of was that there was close to fifty different cameras on him. Communists are a threat and always have been a threat.

Response: Now I am becoming confused. POTUS used the Police Officers as a backdrop for gun control, people with white coats for the HC reform act (found out later one 4 were doctors), Union workers for the energy…is there another president in history that has used backdrops as described in this number. I am confused, I thought that this list was to show the tea party as a threat. There has not been any tea party marches with the military or promotion of expanding the military. The tea party is about self reliance they want the civilians to have more weapons than the military so that the civilians don't become subjects.

Response: Again confusion. POTUS has never taken his wife to the middle east where she as an infidel would have to be slain. POTUS' records from indonesia state that his religion as islamic. The rule of islam is that you can not quit islam. If he rescinds islam than why would he take his wife and she go all over the world but never to mecca? Tea Party shows racial and sexual diversity that is not seen in the muslim financed democrat party. Don't forget that women fueled the american revolution and the tea party. They know the bills. TEA stands for Taxed Enough Already.

Response: This is getting more confusing!! There are three networks CBS, NBC and ABC. Research the number POTUS favorable programs and reports. All three are dominantly POTUS. The main stream news is FOX, CNN and MSNBC. How many of those three are POTUS supporters?

Response: No one is currently obsessed with national security. National economics yes, national security no, not even the Democrats. We have written nasty letters to N Korea and Iran but little else.

Response: Again this makes the point that this administration is moving the nation to collapse and resurrection into a fascist society. Here is the parallels to pre Stalin, Mussolini and Hitler. There is no question that POTUS keeps up an image of religion then makes decisions in direct opposition to religious positions. In words he supports God but in practice he supports existentialism.

Response: Like POTUS with GE, GM, Solendra, Telsa…?

Response: There are two kinds of labor. One type is Organized labor, it is hand in hand with all socialist agendas. This type of labor works in the interest of the collective corporate structure. This is what POTUS gets his funding and gives his support. The other type of labor is the private labor force. They people known as "small businesses" are being regulated into non existence.

Response: I agree. I have said this over and over. The people that support the communist agenda artists, actors, teachers, poets, musicians all are seen as non productive, non contributory and not necessary to the collective. The mass graves over every dictatorship in history are filled with these people. The very work and economic structure that brought about their very existence is what causes their obtuse view of the status quo. They are always the first to go. There is no question that history is repeating itself. Look at how the sequester is being applied even though POTUS could have made other choices.

Response: Again this nails this administration to a "T." Look at the executive order made by POTUS to restrict petitions in the presence of the secret service. Look at the soldier held for a posting on face book. Look at the president's response to if he can order another drone strike on american citizens but now on american soil. More regulations mean more police power. Once again the tea party supports maximum freedom with maximum personal responsibility.

Response: There is nothing in this statement that reflects on the tea party. Can you draw any connections from this President to ACORN, George Soros, Valerie Jarret, Solendra, GM, Unions, land transfers to Russia, mineral rights to China????

Response: Please look at voter fraud. How about that dem lady that voted 6 times for POTUS? How about 116% voter turn out that voted for POTUS in 3 counties in Ohio…How about the default problems with the voting booths? Please site the incidences of republican fraud with this last election.

Conclusion: If it is true that Democrats are much like their mascot, stubborn, slow and lazy then it is unlikely she will go line by line and point out her position. I have yet to meet the POTUS supporter that read both of his books to become an educated voter. It will be interesting to see if it is true that the democratic platform is to keep its voter's dependent, uninformed and unemployed. That is the largess voting block and is exclusive to the democratic party and not at all representative of the republican party. This very posting supports why the red states are seen as life giving blood to this nation and the blue states as seen as the lifeless portion of america. The highest concentration of Dems per square foot is any prison, drug addiction, divorce court or abortion clinic I can understand why their justified misfortune. Dems should read "Atlas Shrugged" so they can understand what democratic cities like Chicago and Detroit are suffering from the loss of the productive people. Soon we will see more cities fall. "Who is John Galt?"

When you get a response together for him, Polkow, I will forward the post to him. He is looking forward to your response. Thanks.

Seems you are stuck on some imbecilic statement. Try being a little better educated for a change.
It will make you much more lucid.

I agree with your assessment, anyone who listens to Limbaugh, Hannity, or Beck and accepts them as an authority without any credentials is a half-wit. Three college dropouts are major voices within the republican part.

Who ever claimed any of them were authorities?

What "imbecilic claim" is that?

If there are any "imbecilic claims" in this thread, it's the claim the "Dr." Lawrence Britt" is some kind of expert on fascism. He doesn't have a PHD, and he isn't even a political scientist. He's a sales executive. Anyone who swallows his crap is a king sized sucker.

Tut tut, there, m'boy. Ye do yerseff no favers there.

You already proved you're a imbecile and a king sized sucker who fell for the infantile scribblings of one self-described "Dr." Lawrence Britt. You're trying to fool the readers of this thread that you know something about fascism when in reality you're a total rube and a complete fool.

Bripat, seeing as you know so much on the subject why don't you comment on my friend A's response to Polkows and see what you can do. I'd like to see you how you line up with that. I think it would be interesting. - Jeri

Bi partisan means in the beltway" I just got bought with booze and boat parties."

When you have a Republican openly admitting that everyone got "all bipartisan" getting shit faced on the yacht over the gun control issue, hells bells they all have to go.

Washington needs an enema.
And the internet makes it theoretically possible to convince millions of US voters to FLUSH every elected Republican AND Democrat from DC in a single news cycle, starting next year.

And they still won't control the economy even if we did take over the all three branches of government.

And if our government doesn't control the economy?

It doesn't control jackshit.

there will be no improvement to the quality of life on earth until we fix THIS problem.

Neither Republicans NOR Democrats have the slightest inclination to fix that problem. Why not use existing third parties, Greens, Libs, Independents, (Peace and Freedom??), to FLUSH a hundred incumbents of both corporate parties from DC in 2014? IMHO, taking control of the US economy means rolling back 150 years of judicial activism in furtherance of corporate wealth creation, that may require a Second Constitutional Convention which probably will never be a subject of discussion for reasonable people as long as Democrats AND Republicans maintain control of the US government.

Why would Obama believe he needs to fix a 16 trillion dollar debt problem when he doesn't even see it is a problem?
