Currently, 7.1% unemployment in Wisconsin compared to 8.3% nationally.

When Walker took office a year ago, Wisconsin unemployment was 7.4% compared to 9.1% nationally.

To create the budget surplus in Fact #1, Governor Walker decreased net state taxes by $23.6 million, and increased net state fees by $111.34 million.

About $107 million of the $111.34 million increase in fees comes from increasing tuition at the University of Wisconsin.

Fact #1 refers to the link in my last post as evidence Walker took a deficit and turned it into a surplus.

So I am looking at it. That's what we wanted, right? To examine the "facts"?

There are two tax increases.

One is a reduction of the Earned Income Tax Credit.

The second is the repeal of indexing maximum income and property taxes to inflation.

Both of these obviously hurt the average taxpayer.


There are quite a few tax cuts, almost all of which are business tax cuts. And there are capital gains tax cuts. So your boss and the rich get tax cuts in Wisconsin, you get a tax hike.



Then there are the fees. The fees which are cut affect businesses.

And then there is that massive increase put on the backs of college students, which really means their parents.


So the surplus is coming out of the hides of working people.

I don't know that I would be bragging about that.
