Most of these starving people are in countries where the food supply system has been disrupted by famine, civil war, Marxism or simple government corruption.

This is of no fault with the individuals who are starving; the guilty do make sure that they dont personally have to live with the consequences of their bad policies and/or warfare.

It is quite natural for married couples in an agricultural society to have more than five kids as these will be future workers on the family farm. When the above disruptions occur, it is not their fault.

We used to have similar families living on the edge of starvation in the USA also and some still do for various reasons.

We are only a few generations from when we had a lot of dirt floor poor in our country as well.

Most Asian nations already had fairly sophisticated governments that looked after the interests of their own people and have for decades. Some African nations have as well, like Kenya and Lesotho. But one never hears much about them because they dont make the news so much.
