2014 Might Be The Most Libertarian Year Ever

A losertrarian is worse as they don't believe in government grants or funds for science or r@D. These people would have this nation looking like Haiti...

They suck.

It's remarkable to watch the panic of Dumbocrats at the mere thought of the federal government not throwing money around to them.

Tell me Matthew, where in the Constitution does the federal government derive the power to provide grants to you parasites?

Just out of curiosity, since this is their year, what policy ideas of the libertarians are supported by a majority?

We certainly know that Dumbocrat policies are not supported by the majority. The American people are overwhelmingly disgusted by Obamacare. And thanks to Obama, 72% of Americans now view the federal government as the greatest threat to this country - even over Russia, Iran, China, and terrorism.

You Dumbocrats sure do a bang-up job of running the country...

Fuck you, junior. We're sick and tired of you posting the same old shit over and over.

Dude, all your posts are just more sandbox banter. I bet your hero is the fat kid on South Park. Grow up.

The highlights from this video:

 • Obamacare has proven the inffectiveness and incompetence of massive, unconstitutional, federal government

 • 72% of Americans now believe the federal government is the greatest threat to America. Not Iran. Not China. Not terrorists. Our own freaking government.

 • Barack Obama now has the lowest approvate rating of any second term president in U.S. history sans Richard Nixon (ouch)

Domestically, libertarianism will succeed if we can weather the initial effects. As far as foreign policy goes, libertarianism demands that we ignore human nature and trust everyone with aims to destroy us both economically and physically.

"libertarianism demands that we ignore human nature and trust everyone with aims to destroy us both economically and physically"
That's simply not true. Prove it.
Oh its easy to prove.

Just go take a gander at every TOXIC DISASTER SITE in America, lad.

The LIBERTY of the pollutors becomes everybody's problem.

The closest example I have in my neck of the woods is the mercury polluting HOLTERCHEM site.

YOU are paying to clean this up, in the long run lad.

Now how much do you love the former owners LIBERTY in that case?

Their corporation is bankript and the former owners?

they get off scot free, lad.

YOU pay the bill.

That's the LIBERTY some of your libertarians believe is a good idea.

I certainly hope so, but I have my doubts. A large segment of our population have been brainwashed to think big government is good and those espousing small limited government are EVIL. Some demand more government even though history clearly shows the bigger the government the smaller the citizen...and big government has a long history of murdering and imprisoning it's citizens

The government ignores the Constitution. We have rule by elites...crony capitalism rules the day. America has become a quasi fascist state.

Clearly our problems stem from big government, but many have blinders on and are unable to see it.

Make no mistake gipper, every last Dumbocrat sees it. They don't care. There is a big difference. The lazy parasites like wrongwinger and JoeB are happy to surrender freedom for pitiful government table scraps - so long as that government cheese and subsidized housing means they can stay home getting drunk and playing Xbox.

Yes Americans dependent on big government is appalling. Of course, one of the unwritten goals of big government is to enslave as many Americans to government "benefits" as possible.

The goals of the Progressive elite is clear to some of us. This much is crystal clear:
- Obamacare's real goal is to implode the hc system and replace it with a socialist hc system.
- AGW's real goal is one world government run by a small Marxist elite.
- Deficit spending and exploding national debt is really designed to bankrupt the nation leading to total control of the nation by a small Marxist elite.
- The p-school system is designed to enrich unions and teachers, who are required to be progressives and pay considerable sums to the D Party.
- The War on Poverty was never intended to end poverty, but to enslave as many Americans to a government pay check as possible and to make sure they voted for pols who vote for continued enslavement.
- The bail out of Wall Street and the Too Big To Fail Banks was not done to save the economy, but to enrich the power elite, who then provide lots of funds to corrupt the bureaucracy and politicians.
- and on and on......

What percentage of self described Libertarians are former Republicns?

When the two American politicians who are most often identified with libertarianism are members of the GOP.......and thus approve of the GOP platform, how can you claim to have any impact at all?

Ron Paul approves of the GOP platform?

...a con by any other name.....teabaggers have given cons such a bad name they changed it to Libertarian...the con probably won't work....

Umm, no.

Libertarians existed before the Tea Party. In fact, libertarians did the first Tea Parties, and the conservatives came along and took the idea and made it into their own thing.

This is not to say that there aren't conservatives masquerading as libertarians, but there are plenty of authentic libertarians out there.

I see they're letting the grade schoolers surf the web these days.

Except that's completely backwards. Libertarians believe in absolute property rights, which means that nobody would have the right to violate property rights via pollution. You know, unlike the great regulator government that hands out pollution passes.

You might want to check those polls again, lovey. Immigration reform? Majority support. Raising taxes on the 1%? Majority support. Extending unemployment? Majority support. Hell, even gay marriage? Majority support.

What libertarian policies are supported by a majority? Gay marriage and pot legalization.

As far as this thread in general is concerned, I suppose it will be in some ways. I don't see much to look forward to politically, except maybe a few small battles won here and there, but further transparency of the NSA is on the way, thanks to Edward Snowden's leaks, and that is certainly in line with libertarianism. And more and more people will simply begin to question the government over its ridiculous policies. This may not take the form of libertarianism, but it is libertarian in and of itself.

You can't even get ultra-liberal California to support gay marriage (they voted for Prop 8).

As far as raising taxes on the 1% - that is hilarious. Of course it has "majority" support - because the majority is not in that 1%. Now ask the nation if they support having their own taxes raised and it would literally have 0% support. Not one damn person in America would actually vote to have their own taxes raised. Why? Exactly....

Absolutely. They've been very clear about it. The Dumbocrats crave power. The only way the can obtain it is by having as many people dependent on them as possible. It is summed up nicely here....

as a long-time libertarian who's studied the libertarian philosophy at length, I believe I can truthfully say that the second half of your statement is a complete and baseless wrong-headed crock of shit...

Then how do you explain Ron Paul saying he would let Iran get nukes? Ignoring the rest of the world is naïve and foolish.

Why do you believe he would "ignore" the rest of the world?
It's naive and foolish to posit such without proof.
