2023 MLB season

John means coming back from a serious injury is looking very good for the Orioles. a pretty solid left-handed pitcher like him will be useful for the postseason.

Batista might be ready to come back in time for the postseason as well. With him as the closer the Orioles will be very much tough to beat.

The Devil rays had another impressive comeback victory. They blew a 5-0 lead against the Blue Jays only to come back down a run in the bottom of the ninth and walk it off yet again.

I couldn’t have said it any better. I would add that the Brewers also have I couldn’t of said it any better. I would add that the Brewers also have a solid manager in Craig Counsell… I remember him from his playing days back with the Arizona Diamondbacks. It seem like he always had a baseball mind.

The scouting report seems to be out and effective on Delacruz…. One thing that might save him is his fielding ability along with his running. We will see if he becomes a one hit wonder.

Ankiel lost control as a pitcher. I remember he threw maybe five or seven wild pitches in a row in one inning. Sort of reminds me of when second basemen Chuck Knoblock of the Yankees got the yips and couldn’t throw the ball to the first baseman.

With Ankiel The balls were way over the head of the batter, but he ended up coming back as a decent fielder/hitter…. At one point I think he was using HGH, but it wasn’t banned by baseball while he was using it.

My position on steroids is that it doesn’t necessarily make somebody a better baseball player but increases their ability to work out get a little bit stronger. But they still have to find that raw talent. I thought Barry Bonds was one of the greatest to ever play. Even before the steroid era, he was a tremendous talent. Of course obviously the steroids were problematic and any edge is an edge even if it’s in the weight room.

That home run race between Mcguire and Sosa back in the 90s catapulted baseball back to the spotlight. It brought the game tons and tons of viewers… I will always remember it . I think it was probably the greatest time in baseball in the past 40 years. It’s unfortunate that the steroid scandal diminished it.

when Ankiel got the yips I remember he came back a hitter. He hit an HR in the first ten games or something like that? Suddenly a phenom (was a pitcher) Then caught with HGH delivered to his home. He disappeared fast. Brady Anerson (BALT) hit 52 HR then vanished?

PEDs allow you to play every day w/o nagging injuries affecting you. Bonds grew hat & shoe sizes near age 40. Nobody does that. Then 73 homers? Not happening without PED IMVHO.

Manny was an iron man juiced up. Suddenly so strong he effortlessly ripped line drives to RF over & over? Big Papi juiced up and those two carried BOS for 5 yrs.

McGwire SOSA were juiced up. They don’t do what they did without. Many others too.

Hard for me to be convinced that PED don’t have a huge effect. Lebron is rumored….Tiger Woods. on & on.

They are supposed to be building a new stadium in St. Petersburg. That may not be the best area to do it.

they were not going anywhere .....
Do you follow baseball?

They were only a game and a half behind the wild card. Now because of that last loss the reds are 2 1/2 games behind the wild card. But either way that is an extraordinary come back for Pittsburgh. It is a remarkable victory for the pirates and a remarkable loss for the Reds… games like those will go down in the annals of baseball history and be remembered.

Who are your top contenders to win the World Series?

its hard to say....remember the year the giants and the dodgers both had like 108 wins ...and both lost in the first round....its going to be whoever is playing good ball at the time.....

I suppose I would like to see TB win it all? They have done so much recently (on small payroll) w/o a title. They probably deserve one. SEA too. BALT CIN have titles.

I used to only pay attention to the NL. But now? All rules the same.

reminded me of this game: On May 2, 2005, the Cardinals overcame a six-run deficit by scoring seven runs in the ninth and defeating the Reds, 10-9, at Cincinnati.

Yesterdays was even bigger and more harmful as the Reds are still alive for playoffs.
Excellent point. Seven runs in the ninth inning is quite remarkable. Kind of funny that it was against the Reds.

in the 142 year history of the Pittsburgh pirates.
They had their largest come back win yesterday.

I originally marked your post funny by mistake. I meant WOW.

This year I have watched little MLB. I will defer to your more informed opinion.

i have been trying to bet NFL, finding a “system”. I tried some College yesterday and it is rough. The can score in bunches!

I usually turn on NFL redzone or Netscape or Discovery channel, sometimes muted. I turn MLB games on my phone on mute but it is small. i just glance in now and then,This year. MLB had been my go-to prior to the 94’ strike. I got back into in about 2006.

I’m no baseball expert. Our knowledge is probably similar. But I will say baseball was the sport I played growing up. I didn’t really get into football or basketball.

These past two years I’ve been following major league baseball quite extensively because of the future betting place on various teams. So that allows me to follow The games more closely.

How is Netscape these days, I have not use that in a long time.

I generally agree with people, saying that the Tampa Bay Devil rays have a legit chance at the World Series. But they will have a difficult job getting past the Astros and the Orioles. Which is why the AL east race is so important. Baltimore has a 1.5 game edge over the Devil rays and I believe they hold the tiebreaker this year. And whoever wins the AL east will have home-field advantage throughout the whole American League playoff.

I know that Baltimore’s manager comes from a national league background. So he has a tactical approach to the game. I saw this when he had to shuffle his infield outfield lineup late in the game against Tampa Bay not too long ago… bringing in a rookie who never played any games in the field to play centerfield… as his bench was short. I think Brandon Hyde should be the manager of the year for what he has done to Turn the Orioles around into a World Series contender. And Ryan O’Hearn should be the comeback player of the year. He was batting under 200 with the Royals and is now a 300 hitter with the Orioles. Hes a clutch lh hitter as well. Whatever the Orioles face are right, handed pitcher. They are a very difficult team to beat as they can play lh Gunnar Henderson, Rutschman and Santandar, who are both switch hitters, and lh Cedric Mullins in the top of the line up. Aaron hicks a switch hitter from the Yankees is playing a lot better with the Orioles as well.

Before his injury, Orioles closer Felix Battista was a candidate for the Cy Young. If they can get him back, watch out.

Netscape is OK. No commercials is priceless (compared to regular TV). International movies or TV series are OK By me but sometimes you have to watch ClosedCaption to understand. Or sometimes they translate vocally for you but that can be weird. Someti it just plays in the background to see hot chicks! I rest up from working dozing thru hours of it.

I dont know what I will do when I retire? Or get laid off under the DEM collapse. I can’t watch TV like I do now 24-7 taking a pain pill on weekends. I have been looking into small low-budget internet sports gambling for another kind of hobby. If I don’t lose too badly it gives me something.

i don’t do the futures bet like you do as I need instant action Lol! Two yrs back I saw WASH MLB team in a series and I told myself “that is the best team I‘ve seen all year”. I kick myself for not putting $50 or so on them as they won it all. But I had no internet account at that time. I would have to walk in a casino. I think internet gambling recently became legal?

I have a lot to say and no one to talk to basically USMB is it for me. But at home is a painful touch type compared to a dual screen PC with keyboard mouse at work. So if my posting is extra bad on weekends…..

I thought Netscape was an Internet search engine. Is it more now?

When it comes to sports betting, it’s all about having fun at least for me , trying to win and most important betting what you could afford. A true professional gambler would tell you or anyone to never bet any kind of a sizable percentage of your entire bankroll. Even if you are a successful bettor.

Yes, I also hope that we don’t have a collapse of society here in America. Certainly many of the Democrats Biden and Harris are horrible for the country. I’ve lost close friends because I choose not to let them call me a racist with no evidence to back it up. And why would I associate myself with some of these people who are now supporters of a radical LGBT agenda, when they were never like this just a few years ago. Two of these guys are stay at home dad’s(one doesn’t work and brags about it) the other a weed dealer, and I told myself I don’t wanna surround myself with that kind of thing.

I have my Poker friends some of them I’ve known for over 15 years … these guys are pretty cool. Most of them are Trump supporters but the guys were Democrats are over 80 years old and cool to be around with

I’m more of a poker player. I take Poker very seriously and I am definitely not any kind of a superstar, but I try and win what I can. I’ve had three productive winning years in a row.

As for sports betting. I’m only up a little bit, possibly breaking even this year on FanDuel and DraftKings. The World Series will possibly change that and I’m very hopeful for the Orioles, and perhaps some NL wildcard teams to make it. Although you do not do futures, you should consider it because it’s basically like the stock market you place your bet and you see how things go over the year. Yes you don’t have immediate action on the game but it does make the games all the more interesting. It also saves you from possibly losing a lot if you’re betting every game and mostly losing. I do occasionally bet single games and I’m basically even on them this year.

The thing with future betting is you can place a 25 or $50 bet on a team that is somewhat of a longshot. You can use a profit boost on FanDuel and you have a lot to play for. You can sell your bet at some point in the year if you want to. That’s why I usually divide my future bets into multiple that’s on each team.

FanDuel and DraftKings became legal here in New York State sometime around two years ago I believe. So it’s relatively new here…. As far as I know, it was illegal in most states in the country just six years ago even.

You can also hedge against your future bets. It’s always a great situation if your team makes the Championship in a sport like the NBA, NHL or MLB, and then they get up two or three games to nothing ie up 3-0 you can then hedge on the other team for the next four games and you will come out ahead had no matter what.

I think if I am smart, I will put a big bet on the Dodgers or braves to win the World Series before the playoffs but who knows if I will…. Anything can happen in the playoffs and both of those teams might not even make the final four. I’m already invested into the baseball playoffs, and the idea of putting more money down means there’s more to lose. The LA Dodgers were six to one to win it all just a few days ago now they are four to one.

I am sorry. It is NetFlix. Must be auto correct?
Poker is great. I played a lot way way back but moved around and lost all players.
Yes I made a bunch of small bets. Ended up down....but mostly from the "Juice" as I think I won at least 1/2 of bets or one more than half?
If you bet 10 $10 bets and win 5 of them you will not be ahead (as you know). You will be down at least $5 from that seesion due to the -110 factor. Sometimes it moves around.

Braves won 100 now. BALT is best in the AL ~95 wins. They are the #1 seed I would think. But WC teams seem to win it all as often as any #1 seed for a long time now?

I have a hard time going against any underdog like MIL. In football you can bet over/under and not be biased as much. I always want the little guys to win. I despise the big markets signing all the big names (unlimited budget). MIL BALT would be good.

most wins dont mean shit unless you win it all....dodgers and giants know this....

Toss in the Mariners with their 116 win season several years ago. I think Lou Piniella may have been managing them then. Didn’t even make the World Series. This year’s Mariners have hit a slump at a bad time. Losing 10 of 15. But they have 3 with Houston and finish with 4 against Texas. So there will be some true drama for both the wild card and the AL West Title the final week.

I quit playing casino poker, as all the money ends up inside the table....Last time I played, everyone at the table was a good experienced player....The winning pots were pretty much going to every player at one point or another, yet everyone was still buying more chips.

Unless you're red hot, there's really no money in hold 'em....The only good game is stud, which is an endangered species because of teevee hold 'em games.

That’s why it’s good to find local games if you can. There’s not always around. But certainly the rake at Most casinos is astronomical. It’s hard to beat the rake if you’re trying to play a one two NL game or similar.

There was one small game in Las Vegas at resorts world in Las Vegas. Their 1-3nl game had a five dollar rake…It seems like most casinos when it comes to the lower Buy ins have at least a seven dollar rake if not more.

In order to attempt to be profitable in cash game Poker You’re basically going to have to play 2-5 or 5/10 + buying for $1000 something of that nature and of course that just means risking more money.
