And that was just the cost for the four states whose exchanges failed. Over a trillion dollars has been spent on this boondoggle to ultimately insure a mere seven to eight million people, almost half of which already had insurance prior to the law's passage, but lost it as a result. It really astonishes me how in the face of these failures people actually still believe the government should be engaging in programs like this.

Simple. All it takes is someone saying
SEE the states should have signed up for the federal exchange to begin with.

And use that to push for all states to do the same.

(Not that I agree at all with this coercion. This is like telling rape victims
"they wouldn't have gotten hurt if they didn't resist in the first place."
Hell, they are still getting raped. How is that not getting hurt?)

My vote is for the Democrat party and leadership to separate
their ACA program by party, and let other parties and groups
have their own exemptions and options that are equally valid legally.

Whatever terms you agree to for paying for your health care and
contributing the share you believe in should be up to your religious beliefs.
Govt cannot dictate the level and means you wish to pay for others.

If Govt could cover all at 100% (like how all the military defense is paid for
the entire population equally through the federal govt) then I would say
Govt can dictate those as mandatory costs.

But if Govt is not covering all people or all costs equally,
then this becomes ARBITRARY what amount and means to provide coverage.

So that is where people's individual beliefs and standards come in.
Govt cannot dictate those, but should leave it to the people to decide by
their own standards on what is fair coverage, or what would allow universal coverage.

Not forcing people to pay for less than equal/universal systems that take resources
AWAY from other means of covering more people than this does.
