So Bolivarian Socialism has NOTHING to do with the fact that people can't eat?

Part of the whole Bolivarian thing was control of the economy, and the threat of nationalization of industry if the companies didn't play along. And people wonder why no one wanted to invest there?

I said the price of oil dropping hurt the Venezuelan (not bolivian) economy and that a decent economy had to have aspects of both capitalism and socialism. most normal people understand that laizzez faire capitalism results in a Dickensian nightmare. even adam smith ultimately understood that.

it's also funny how in any discussion about socialism rightwingers like to go to Venezuela (where we interfered in their government for years). why? because Venezuela gave oil to poor people in the US during baby bush's presidency. perhaps you want to examine countries that have successfully merged capitalism and socialism since this country will never be socialist. so it's really what we're talking about.

Bolivarian Socialism, named after Simon Bolivar, who Bolivia is also named after. It was what Chavez called his flavor of command economy socialism.

And the "big bad US cased all of Venezuela's problems" is comical because we kept right along buying their oil, and some of our corporations kept investing there, despite the continuous threat of appropriation.

Chavez called what he was doing Socialism, his successors continued with that.

You just don't want to admit all those lefty celebrities who got on the Chavez bandwagon (and yourself obviously) were suckered in. The useful idiots every socialist movement needs and hopes for.

When you are close enough to the Equator, there is no such thing as winter, only slightly less oppressive summer.

I'd like to be there, not at the Olympics, just the beach......

Just make sure its an Ocean Beach, and not anything on a bay, or near a sewer outfall.
