A Tea Party Wants Mandatory Christmas Carols In Public Schools

liar...i never said what you claimed

You never claimed a distinction between Christianity and Buddhism, Judaism in this thread, as part of your argument? Are you sure?

absolutely....i never said there was a distinction....you're confusing yourself....of course judiasm is distinct from christianity and vica versa, but you're claiming i said christianity enjoyed distinction due to christmas....i never said that and you have yet to provide evidence i did say that....

i is simply claimed factual that christmas was a christian holiday, but now the courts and liberals claim it is not....if you actually read what i said, my point all along has been the denial to sing about a federal or state holiday....

perhaps you would like to actually discuss the topic again...maybe respond to my reply about your 3rd circuit case....or are you really going to focus on this non issue?

You said to the person who mentioned other religions to come back when their religion has a national holiday.

Tell us what you meant by that.

they were saying that if initiative wants christmas carols, then it must allow all other religious/holiday "carols"....however, in this country, christmas has a long standing tradition, is cultural and is a federal/state holiday, so denying someone the opportunity to sing about a federal/state holiday is nonsensical....and IMO, it is nonsensical to bring up other religious holidays as those holidays are not recognized at the federal or state level....

are you going to deny that christmas started out as a religious holiday and is now, according to liberals and the courts a non religious holiday?

what do you say about my response to the 3rd cir case? why are you so obsessed with this stupid gotcha game? don't have anyting to debate?

The federal government has never declared Christmas to be a Christian holiday nor religious holiday or anything other than a federal holiday.no different than any other federal holiday. No mandates are issued by the federal government that require any federal holiday to be observed in any particular way. Federal holidays are generally chosen to recognize, honor, or respect historical persons, events, or traditions, but nobody is required to recognize, honor, or respect the subject of the holiday.

That is why Christmas can be a federal holiday without in any way violating the First Amendment.

The first amendment protects our right to pursue our own religion. In no way is a public religious display a violation of the first amendment, anyway, unless it VIOLATES the RIGHTS of others.

Not annoys. Not irritates. It has to violate someone's rights.

And Christmas carols violate nobody's right to anything. You don't have a right to silence during Christmas when you're in the village square.

As long as my tax dollars don't go to the support of a religious celebration. I'm not paying for some fantasy cretche.

Sure you are. Unless you manage to convince the city otherwise.

So, as I said to begin with, you are making a distinction between Christianity and other religions, from a legal perspective. There is no distinction.

And why would a school with 90% Buddhists, or Jews, for example, be required to put on Christmas caroling events? Why wouldn't it be more appropriate for the individual schools or school districts at least have that decision making power?

And btw, proving you wrong IS debate, genius.

29 pages of Yurt deflecting from the main point.

If you "shall" do something or face litigation, it is mandatory. And that is a no no under the US Constitution when it comes to religion.

i never said the opportunity wasn't mandatory....and the constitution does not forbid "shall"....even when i comes to religion....i'm actually disappointed you have yet to make an actual argument as what specific part of the proposed initiative is unconstitutional. i was hoping for some debate after i posted cases.

you've obviously not the read the cases i provided....and once again, you fail to actually debate the thread. i have deflected nothing, rather, i've spent the time actually trying to debate this issue, unlike you who merely waltzes in and calls people retard and makes false claims like above.

once again you resort back to dishonesty.....i have never made a distinction between christianity and other religions from a legal perspective.

why should the school allow the opportunity if the students choose? because it is a federal and state holiday.....why do you have a problem with people singing about a federal/state holiday?

thing is, you haven't proven me wrong. you once again ignore the actual substance of the debate by ignoring my response to your 3rd circuit case. it shows you're too afraid to debate the actual subject matter.....

Careful what you wish for....most of the good students have already been taken out of the public schools system. The wealthy send theirs to private schools, the rest homeschool theirs.. This leaves the poor with uneducated parents in the public schools and you wonder why our schools are doing so badly?

LOL, right-wing christian children, whose parents want to pull them out of public schools because they don't have mandated Christmas Carols, will certainly not be a loss for the public school program.

In fact, the loss will probably cause a marked improvement in the average GPA.

You keep telling yourself that......

Bye, bye America. You have surrendered every value you ever had to special interest groups. So sad, so patetic, so politically correct, so 21st century American.

Allah Akbar !

Yukon as much as I dislike a lot of what you post I do agree with this assessment, especially if we pass cap and trade, healthcare, and sign off on an internationally binding agreement in copenhagen.

And I also agree that God, by whatever name the higher power is called, is great.

I think if the Tea Party movement wants more credibility on fiscal conservatism they have got to cast off these theocratic wing nuts.

I'm a big believer in fiscal responsibility - Pay as you go.

I hope someone other than these radical right jihadists will champion the cause.

I'm going to gently disagree with this. It is true that we have handed over to big government many of our former freedoms and rights in favor of a nanny/big brother state and in the process have corrupted both government and ourselves. But I do not believe that we have surrendered all our values and I think more Americans are regaining their backbones and their virtues every day as testified by the Tea Parties, Tax Protest rallies, and the polls.

I hope that trend continues and we will have a fighting chance to restore our country to its former greatness.
