I know people on SSI who are mad as hell because instead of medicare just giving them a card and SSI just giving them a check...they now have to take what little money that disability check entails and pay into healthcare and they're pissed about...but that's how it works now..no more freebee's per say!!

Everybody who draws SSI has to pay into Medicare Part A. I think it is $104 a month this year. What are they bitching about if the get SSI and SSDI?

I work in the mortgage industry and a lot of people who lost their jobs, a lot of these people ran to disability to get a check and a lot did. So we're talking about people who are NEW to this thing, thinking they get a check, they get a card and they don't have to pay for any of it....that's what I'm guessing. Cause I'm always getting these poor me letters explaining why they can't make payments and its always a whine story about the money they have to pay.

The issue at hand was that people were using the ER as a primary source of healthcare. With ACA and having a primary care doctor, that was the purpose of easing up the ER's for emergency uses only...but like I said prior, if you visit any ER in this country, you'd find that most cases are of an emergency nature and waiting to see a doctor when you have an emergency is a no brainer. I would challenge that study and see exactly what was the nature of those visits, than you can have the debate on whether or not, ACA has really worked...but a n*** getting shot and sent to the ER or me having chest pains, I mean, what do you expect?

But, just agree that when you get sick, you won't go to the ER and get expensive charity care at the tax payers expense, and when that big bill comes, you won't file for bankruptcy and stick it to your creditors. CARBONDALE, IL—Doctors at Southern Illinois Hospital confirmed Monday that Dale Monfort, a 39-year-old lymphatic-cancer sufferer who underwent emergency surgery last week, has just six months to pay.

"Breaking that kind of news to a patient is never easy," said Dr. Albert Sutin, who performed the six-hour, $30,840 procedure to remove a malignant mass in one of Monfort's lymph nodes. "To look a man in the face and tell him he's got, at the very most, half a year to get his affairs in order, well, it's one of the toughest things a doctor has to do."

As soon as we opened up his file, we saw it—a recent job change had left him without active health insurance for the month of August," Sutin said. "Quite frankly, at that point, we knew there was little we could do to help him."
