Jefferson not only took part in the overthrow of the then existing government, he also wrote that it's ok to do it in the future, if need be.

Idiots like mamooth don't understand that this county was founded on insurrection.

He was referring to unmade attempts by these men to retain power rather than transfer it after their presidential terms.
