Let's say for sake of argument that she's getting one haircut a month. So her total annual spend on haircuts is $3600 a year.

She make 174,000 a year as a Congress member. So she is spending a whopping 2% of her income on haircuts when she's appearing on TV all the time.

The increase in scale necessarily makes the market fluctuate as it struggles to find a successful profit margin in the face of enormous supply. This is why the EBT system is so important... It encourages the scale and the scale puts downward pressure on the pricing.

Now if we were talking about housing per capita costs it would be a completely different story indeed.
