Sure, when they're running for office they're all cute and fuzzy, but give them some power, or leave them unchecked for too long and they become a monster.

Well, since fiscal conservatives have become spending addicted since 9/11, I tend to think you should replace "democrat" with "any politician in Washington, DC", but otherwise, sure.

Seems to be more prevalent on the Democratic side of congress. This election they have to talk like Republicans just to get elected, and not admit they voted for Obama.

Liberalism is really despised right now by most americans. If the GOP would press it's advantage they could get a 2/3 majority in both houses on congress which would effectively impeach obozo since congress could override his vetoes.
