In one of the most gun-free places in the country there has been another shooting. Yesterday, a Ft Hood soldier suffering from mental illness got a hold of a gun and started shooting other soldiers in a medical facility. 4 dead and 16 wounded.

So the discussion begins again.

A former shooting victim from the last attack at Ft Hood said he's angry because it's happened again. He stated this morning that he's angry because it seems to him that people only want to say what sounds good, but in real life what they're saying doesn't work. It has happened again, possibly triggered by reports that another insane Army Recruit was apprehended before carrying out a Jihad against Ft Hood.

The question is this; Would military posts be safer if these trained soldiers were allowed to carry their weapons as a security measure?

Another military base shooting: 'End Clinton-era military base gun ban'

Wednesday, April 02, 2014

It's difficult to imagine American military bases as "gun free zones" but citizens of the U.S. discovered that during the 2009 when a shooting at Fort Hood in Texas left 13 people dead. The Washington Times printed an editorial at the time urging a change in the policy that leaves soldiers unarmed on base:

Last week’s slaughter at Fort Hood Army base in Texas was no different - except that one man bears responsibility for the ugly reality that the men and women charged with defending America were deliberately left defenseless when a terrorist opened fire.

Among President Clinton’s first acts upon taking office in 1993 was to disarm U.S. soldiers on military bases. In March 1993, the Army imposed regulations forbidding military personnel from carrying their personal firearms and making it almost impossible for commanders to issue firearms to soldiers in the U.S. for personal protection. For the most part, only military police regularly carry firearms on base, and their presence is stretched thin by high demand for MPs in war zones.

Because of Mr. Clinton, terrorists would face more return fire if they attacked a Texas Wal-Mart than the gunman faced at Fort Hood, home of the heavily armed and feared 1st Cavalry Division. That’s why a civilian policewoman from off base was the one whose marksmanship ended Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan’s rampage.

If that's in the water I can't see it but you can in the culture. Men, guns, and mental illness equals dead people. Moving on...

Actually it's a quite serious price, but we pay it anyway.

The answer is YES, the soldiers trained in responsible weaponry, should start being armed on base, especially to protect themselves against something we all know is coming----Al Qaeda and terrorists and jihadists are targeting our military bases.

If the soldiers on the base were allowed to be armed, the number of dead and injured would be much smaller. the shooter could have been taken out after the first shot.

Chances are he would have shot up a McDonalds instead.

4 military base shootings under 1 President:

Norfolk: A felon get's access to one of the US Navy's largest bases.
Fort Hood: 2 seperate incidents; 1 being a known Jihadist supporter and 1 general nutcase
Washington Navy Yard: Disgruntled civilian employee

Isn't it about time someone asked WTF is up with the lack of security? If our military can't even defend their own bases on American soil, how do we expect them to win wars?

I am still amazed, surprised, dismayed and shocked that a military base has its weapons locked up. Nice place for jihadists to target in future. Oh. Wait.

This is what we can expect if we ever get hit with the gun control policies that Liberals masturbate over: The law-abiding are unarmed while the criminals have the guns.

Someone is trying to implement change:

GOP Rep. Stockman Urges House to Repeal Gun Ban on Military Bases
Apr 03, 2014

"The grievous shooting at Fort Hood Wednesday claimed three innocent lives and left 16 wounded—the deaths occurred in a gun-free zone due to former president Clinton’s 1993 policy to disarm soldiers on military bases.

The attack at Fort Hood lasted 15 minutes before military police arrived and exchanged fire with the shooter who then shot himself, according to the Wall Street Journal.

“Only the most out-of-touch radical would try to disarm soldiers,” Rep. Steve Stockman (R-Texas) noted in a press release. He urged House members Thursday to repeal the ban and support his “Safe Military Bases Act.”

Or there would be a hell of a lot more incidents.

Why is there not any discussion of actually providing mental health services for OEF/OIF veterans? Why does it always have to be "More guns mean fewer shootings"?

Which leads to the question, why was a person suffering from mental illness allowed to purchase a deadly weapon?

That would be former President George H W Bush's policy, not Clinton. Why must ya'll lie?

You are mistaken, Seawich. Bill Clinton was the President that banned handguns for military personnel. Not George Bush Jr.

Here is Congressman Stockman's bill to repeal Clintons bill. You see?

H.R.3199 Safe Military Bases Act
Repeals Clinton ban on military personnel carrying firearms on base, which made Fort Hood massacre possible.

It was introduced a long time ago. All they have to do is vote yes and it is done!

-Jeri

Military bases should be safe for those who rely on them to do what they were/are trained to do. Defend the USA. How can they defend us when they are not allowed to carry? It's ridiculous. And it needs to be changed.
