Trump doesn't believe in nationalism or any other political philosophy. he's fundamentally a creature of his own ego. When Trump sensed nationalism was no longer generating a positive response for him, he abandoned it, announcing: "i'm a globalist and nationalist", as if the two weren't opposed.

Trump is an opportunist driven by a desire to be liked, rather than a principled politician.

They ALL are. You don't get into that office unless you are one of "them". I think the problem that Hillary had was that there was just too much stink on her for them to protect her for very long. Her meltdown election night (IMO) was that they betrayed her and put Trump in.
