I'm not one to squander my money gambling but I do play the lottery. I've never won a jackpot but I have come close a few times. i won almost $500 yesterday and almost $700 a few months ago with the same numbers I play every day. I play a week at a time and I usually win back more than I spend. Sometimes it's just a free replay and sometimes I win $15 or $20 but it's cool to win a sizable amount. Just wondering if anyone else has ever won anything.

$100 once or twice, $50 maybe 10 times, and $5 - $20 bucks once every month or so.

But I only buy scratch-offs, and I don't buy them as much as I used to. I think the odds are worse here in California than they were in New York.

Ever play the Fantasy 5?

When you play the lottery, you support welfare.

How so? I thought the money went to the schools.
Depends on the state and I am pretty sure, only a fraction goes towards schools that teach common core and usurp the rights of Christian students to pray or have social organizations.

They claim (in California anyway) that one third of the proceeds go to the schools. I'm a capitalist, if they can get money voluntarily from people, that's better than making them pay against their will (taxing). Besides, if I win big, guess where a portion of that money's gonna go?

I'll buy a ticket in one of the big lotteries once in a blue moon. I don't want to be the person that wishes he had a dollar for each ticket he's bought.

The woman at the lottery office said a lot of winners are multiple winners. She said their stories are similar, they play for a long time just occasionally winning a few dollars here and there, then they finally hit a jackpot and their luck starts to change and they start winning frequently. I don't know, I think it's worth the gamble if you don't spend more than you can afford to lose. It's a better habit than smoking and a lot cheaper. And if you win.....

I play powerball every week. I have won 100 dollars a few times. I also play scratch off tickets and have won
300 once.

The real fun is at the dog track. Now that is exciting.

In 1998 I won £1182 on the British lottery. I play it every week and spend £8, so I have paid the money back by now.

Breaking even is about the most you can hope for.

I've hit some $250's and $500's, but, over 30 years or so, probably barely break even.

Lottery is a tax for idiots, IMO. I haven't bought a ticket in maybe 20 years or more. Same with casino gambling.

Having said that, I once won $10K at a casino. I decided then and there, to never ever go back and I never have.

I've been struck by lightning six times, so I'm confident I'll win the lottery soon. Hopefully before the seventh lightning strike.
