Funny thing is his I too had that 15% taken out for forty-four years and I still managed to build myself a nice little empire considering I was born with nothing. I get medical care from the VA and Trump has left us high and dry unlike during Oblama when the medical care wasn't so pre-measured and dictated. What the rest rely upon is insurance run by private companies that deny test and procedures to save the dough. I was on private health for many years before we got the VA back during Bush jr(Reagan took it away in the 1980's along with the GI bill for education). So don't fool yerself with the dichotomous rhetoric of progressives or liberals ruining something it is done by all parameters of political theory practitioners.
