I hope that this is the case. We need TWO functioning parties to compete with each other, at least two.

Here "Morning Joe" is doing some introspection and I think he nails it.

This MSNBC Host Went Off Script And Admitted The Truth That No Trump-Hater Wants To Admit

And then we have this from Bernie Sanders;
Sen. Bernie Sanders: Trump Voters Are Not Racists, Sexists, or Homophobes

“Some people think that the people who voted for Trump are racists and sexists and homophobes and deplorable folks. I don’t agree, because I’ve been there. Let me tell you something else some of you might not agree with, it wasn’t that Donald Trump won the election, it was that the Democratic Party lost the election,” Sanders said while speaking at an Our Revolution rally in Boston alongside Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), according to the Hill.

Sanders added that the Democratic Party needs to undergo a “fundamental restructuring” to win future elections and that the party’s current state pushed voters to support Trump and the GOP this past election season.

“We need a Democratic Party that is not a party of the liberal elite but of the working class of this country, we need a party that is a grassroots party, where candidates are talking to working people not spending their time raising money for the wealthy and the powerful,” Sanders said. “And when we do that, when we transform the Democratic Party, we transform America.”

Amen, brother Sanders, Amen!

Can we all just get along now and play nice? :)

Based on my experience, I believe that the tactic of resorting to insults is more used by conservatives, though many liberals also do this. I agree that this country needs to stop this right-left war that is tearing our country apart. We need to get back to real debates, where ideology is once again more important than political standpoint.

Personally I think that the party system should be removed in favor of each candidate having his/her own ideals, not having to align with their party's follower's ideals.

I have heard people call liberalism a disease, and conservatives rascist morons. This is what this party sytem has led to. The ideology has ceased to matter anymore.

I think people from either side would believe this is true about their opponents. We all tend to remember slights we receive than the slights our friends let loose.

We have two extreme ideologies that are destroying the middle ground with excessive rhetoric and who make absolute claims that leave no room for disagreement.

Democrats have their social marxists and economic Marxists, while the conservatives have the Freedom Caucus and Losertarians.

Personally I think that the party system should be removed in favor of each candidate having his/her own ideals, not having to align with their party's follower's ideals.

This whole thing was not designed to have parties of any kind, but they kind of evolved into the system.

I have heard people call liberalism a disease, and conservatives rascist morons. This is what this party sytem has led to. The ideology has ceased to matter anymore.

The ideologies still matter to the extreme ends of the spectrum, however.

Ideology should only be used as a tool for getting some handle on what other groups believe, but it should never be allowed to put our options into a straight jacket of ideological "principles".

The Left are intolerant bullies used to getting their way. Now that they are not in power, their intolerance is being met with a big fist, and they don't like it.

I hope that this is the case.
Wow, Kristof nails it. Good for Sanders. And good for Harold Ford on his comments. And it's good that Mika agrees.

But to answer your question, Jim, no, absolutely not. Even though more and more of their voices are admitting what is happening, most of the Left still thinks this...
...and it's not going to change any time soon. Why in the world would the Left look in the mirror, be honest and admit this, when college campus ideological vacuums are churning out so many good, dogmatic soldiers for their cause? Instead of listening to its more rational voices, it's going to become even more defensive and focused.

As Joe said in the clip, I feel sorry for the kids. They don't realize how they're being used.

My guess is that it will continue to get worse before it gets better, if ever.

Not really.

But when they did have them it was the Marxists that pushed the democrats to fight for the working class. These were the groups that forced FDR into bringing about the great society. Unions used to make up a large portion of Democrat donations before the republicans destroyed them. The Democrat party has since embraced corporate donations and with it the corporate agenda of neoliberalism.

Notice how you are praising Bernie Sanders, a social democrat (not a true marxist) and an independent, for pushing the Democrat party to represent the working class as an example of my contention to your point. He is not one of them and they did everything they could to kick him to the curb. He was only used to provide cover for the uber neo-liberal Clinton.

Sanders liberal "Democratic Socialism" is more akin to Nordic Model Socialism, and not really related to Marxism at all.

And support for the working class pre-existed Marxism, and for a very long time, American unions would not admit Marxists as most American union workers from about 1880 to 1950 saw them as cockroaches trying to fuck up the American labor movement.

Well, I agree that this is the state at this time of liberal thought, I am hoping that it reverses and that maybe this is just an early spring bud of much better things to come.

What makes me think that is the way the media has acted in the years since their bias was really outed on a large scale. You'd think they would have calmed down a bit, chastised, but no, they just proceeded full speed ahead. Look at college campuses, no slowing down there.

I'd be really surprised to see much reflection here, or any time soon.

OK, I think that is reasonable on your part, but dont hold it against me if I hope you are wrong.
