Are Republicans "trying" to lose the 2016 presidential race?

Let Republicans play the same hand they played in 2008 and 2012....lets see how they do

I'm hoping they won't play the same hand. I'm hoping they play the same hand they played in 2010... (fingers crossed).

They won in 2010 by promising jobs and fearmongering over Obamacare

They never delivered a single job and were more concerned with social issues than finding people work

Obamacare has been around for three years and the world as we know it has not collapsed. If Republicans are waiting for additional fallout from Obamacare in 2014 they will be waiting a long time

The economy is doing much better than it was in 2010....Republicans will face a tough sell

Republicans don't have to wait for additional fallout from Obamacare. It's already happening. Obamacare is far more unpopular now than it even was before. The Teamsters are now screaming that Obamacare is going to be a disaster for it's members. The business mandate of Obamacare has been postponed for a year while the individual mandate remains. Health insurance premiums have already gone up at least 25 percent. This isn't just republican spin. Many democrats are warning of impending disaster.

and exactly what truth would that be? that liberalism has failed miserably every place it has been tried? that obama and the dems exist because their lies are not brought out by the corrupt media?

TRUTH: STFU about banning abortion and rape
TRUTH: Gay marriage is a done deal, we need to shut up about it
TRUTH: Hispanics are a growing demographic and we need to stop insulting them

I thought rape was already banned, :cuckoo:

if something is basically wrong it is disengenuous to shut up about it.

how are hispanics insulted by more opportunity and lower taxes? why should we worry about what people think who are here illegally? Most hispanics support border control and legal immigration. black organizations are now protesting the immigration bill because they know it will cost black jobs.

If both parties would just tell the truth, the country would be much better off.

Remember "legitimate rape"? It cost the GOP the Senate

Hasn't happened and isn't going to be an issue in 2014. But if Republicans want to try to run on the same Obamacare hysteria they used in 2010.....,,go for it

The second the TPM idiot candidates for the Senate began this type of nonsense, I knew we lost any chance to take the Senate, just like in 2010. The JohnLBurkes are doing their darnedest to destroy the GOP.

Yeah, but you know the difference?

In a State that we took by an OVERWHELMING Majority, in a State DOMINATED by Republicans and other Patriots....

WE kicked Akin to the curb. Not you. Us.

Would your party do the same if the Senate were in play?

Hispanics are insulted by the stated immigration policy of "self deport." If you can admit that, then you can make progress. If you can't, then you will not make progress.

And that's fine - if that is your principled stand, then stand by it. Own it - quit being a wimp and pretending different.

Women are insulted by "legitimate rape," a filibuster on an equal pay initiative, and "no abortion, under any circumstance." Again, if that is your stand - then own it. Don't act surprised when you get your butt kicked among women voters.

Gay voters - well ... don't even pretend anything there.

You think you can blow smoke, re-write history, and generally lie your butt off and that everyone will just drink the Kool-Aid because YOU find it so tasty?????

Good luck.

The good GOP did, Edge, not you, not the bad Republicans. The good Republicans did the right thing despite you losers.

Nice try but Obamacare hysteria is now being used by the democrats who are running away from it (like the Teamsters Union). Good luck.

2016 will be a case of the GOP banging the same drum. They just don't know any better. They really do try to play it straight, but just like Romney with his 47 percent nonsense, they just can't help themselves

Get ready for gays, guns and god in 2016 and another Republican defeat

I never bore of this argument.

If we GOP rely on the old social traditionalist themes, we will lose badly in 2014 and 2016. Those bad old days are gone, gone, gone.

The Pubs are done. I fired them 2 years ago when I couldn't tell the difference between them from any other socialist

actually the GOP is doing OK in most states

win two presidential elections and it goes to your pointy little heads

The GOP does well where they have gerrymandered themselves into safety. The last election showed us that one million more voters voted for Dems than Repubs.

Republicans Can’t Claim Mandate as Democrats Top House Vote

That's another issue, gerrymandering. It means many Reps in the House can't support any sort of platform that might help candidates win national elections. They have to move very far to the right to appease a very conservative district and avoid a primary challenge. So they can't even go along with a bipartisan immigration reform bill. It helps them in the House and hurts them everywhere else.

Gerrymandering has taken the trickle-down ideology about as far as it can go.

I'll be so fucking glad when the republicans change the fucking message.

You really shouldn't. It is the not so hidden underbelly of the Republiacan Party. Give them a microphone ask a question about social issues and watch them implode

I really think the GOP has simply given up on winning the White House. They don't need to. They can obstruct quite nicely from where they've gerrymandered themselves. They can keep passing pointless laws (that will never be signed by the President) that will be red meat to the base that goes out every election to vote for them.

These guys will suck their cushy legislative job for all it's worth then bail on the constituents they never did a fucking thing for to go work on K Street. Everybody wins! No, wait...

Sorry Joe, but the republicans will never change their message until all those at the top either die off or are replaced by someone with half a brain in their heads.

Trickle down never works, because there are too many people at the trough who are thirsty and willing to get as much as they can before it runs out.

Only problem is................people are starting to understand that the water of the GOP is tainted and will only harm them.

If the GOP changes their message in the next 2 years, it will be a miracle of major proportions.

Until then? They will continue to lose because of incompetent leadership.

This idea that if republicans don't turn into democrats then they will be replaced by democrats is certainly an interesting warning.
Republicans do support Healthcare reform (just not your version of it). Portable Health insurance, getting rid of government imposed payment rates, ect.
I don't know of one republican that doesn't support immigration reform (again, perhaps not your version of it).
As for global warming, I don't know of any elected republican being kicked out of their seats for their views on global warming. Actually, outside of a few far left "news" sites, nobody is talking about global warming.
Now, let's talk about the moderate democrats (blue dogs) that are being excoriated by their own president, party, media for disagreeing with the left's view on gun control. Two can play this game.
No one expects them to become Democrats. They just have to address the concerns of the people rather than just pursue a political ideology. In the last election, 73% of the Blacks, 71% of Latinos, and 55% of the women voted democrat. 60% of the younger voters group,18-29 went Democrat. If Republicans are to win presidential elections, they have to shed the image of a party dominated by older white males looking to turn the clock back.

what they need is a charasmatic candidate who is not afraid to tell the truth to the american voters.

strategically they need to learn to use social media and "profiling" like the dems did in order to get their message to the target groups.

the conservative small govt message is a good one. but they need to overcome the corrupt left wing media and drive the message home in spite of the media lies.
I don't think many voters would disapprove of a smaller government, however a lot of voters would disapprove of a small government that doesn't give them the services they want.

A Republican will not win the white house with a message that says vote for me because you don't really want strong safety nets, strong environmental protection, national support for public schools, right to legal abortion, right to marry who you choose, strong support for anti-discrimination laws, and a path to citizenship. Unless you can come out strongly in favor of at lease some these issue, you can't win. These are issue that the public supports. If Republicans are to win, they're going to have to give voters what they want, not try to re-educate them.
