Are Sanctuary cities constitutional?

These people want asylum and we have traditional immigration again...after 4years of racist bs... These people are coming from Cuba Nicaragua and Venezuela, all countries we have ruined with sanctions. Great job! And of course the GOP war on drugs and the climate...

How many should be able to come? All of them?

The phrase sanctuary city is not a legal term, but one developed over time and more recently reflecting a response to ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) policies and actions. In general, a sanctuary city is a community with a policy, written or unwritten, that discourages local law enforcement from reporting the immigration status of individuals unless it involves investigation of a serious crime. These sanctuary communities go beyond cities, though. One can find entire counties and states declaring sanctuary status.

These communities typically do not honor requests by ICE to detain undocumented immigrants whom local agents apprehend for misdemeanor crimes or investigations. Many in sanctuary cities also refuse to deputize their local officers as federal agents, a necessary technicality if those local officers carry out the duties of ICE agents. There is no specific federal law against sanctuary city policies.

Everything you never wanted to know.....

Representative democracy is the definition of a Republic. The problem in this country is the giveaway to the rich tax rates of the GOP since 1987. We don't help Latin America so they are a mess, and here we have the worst inequality poverty homelessness and the worst upward mobility ever in our history because we don't have any money to invest in America. Great job!

Your super hero D's have been in control for almost 2 years, why haven't they fixed any of it? Why haven't any of the past D majorities?

Who do you think runs the war on drugs that has turned Mexico and half of Central America into gangster run countries. And Nicaragua Cuba and Venezuela are sanctioned so much because of their socialism that everybody is getting the hell out and coming here. That's who these people are! Welcome to reality. At the same time climate change has been wrecking Central America and guess who is the worst polluters in the world, modern world let's say at least. By far.

Oxymoron, everybody is getting the hell out because of their 'socialism', i.e. fascist regimes that have destroyed their economies.
Why doesn't the US just pay for every single citizen of those countries to relocate here, that would be the humane thing to do, right? Along with every other 3rd world country run by a despot, might as well bring them all here.

and after when he was president of Colombia. My version is correct yours isn't give it up lol
Um...he ran and won as a Republican....not an independent.

with that said, it's no surprise a Republican like Ike, would remain apolitical as a President of a College....sadly, the Demafasicst have ruined that once proud school

Why won't you ask my question?

Wrong.
Just like states have no jurisdiction that would authorize them checking nationality or immigration status, the feds have absolutely no jurisdiction over drugs at all.

Bullshit.

"On a federal level, all marijuana remains illegal. The federal government classifies marijuana, along with heroin and cocaine, as a Schedule I drug with a high potential for abuse and little to no medical benefit.

As a result of the conflict between federal and state law, residents in some states can find themselves using marijuana in compliance with state law, while simultaneously violating federal law."

The Supremacy Clause of the United States Constitution (Article VI, Clause 2) establishes that federal law controls when state law and federal law conflict. The Constitution itself, however, provides for an exception when it comes to the exercise of police powers. The Tenth Amendment of the United States Constitution generally delegates police powers to the states.

In practical terms, this means that states cannot prevent federal prosecutions of their citizens who are using medical marijuana, but by making such use noncriminal under their own laws, they can eliminate state prosecutions of those citizens under state law."

Medical Marijuana and Federal Law

Not really The driving force is America's appetite for recreational drugs.
Really. by not stopping fentanyl, meth, cocaine et al drugs from coming in Biden has been enabling it. I wonder if he's on the cartel payroll. I wouldn't put it past a corrupt money guzzler like him.

Really so any President who didn't stop contraband smuggling has been enabling it and must be profiting from it?

Seriously?

So name a single president who was able to stop or stem the flow of non government approved recreational substances.

It's not a matter of stopping it. It is a matter of not trying to stop it. The Mexican border is in complete control of the cartels. It wasn't that way when Trump was president. He had the border secure. It is the way it is now, because Biden has allowed it to be that way. He is enabling.

Which city did Trumps AG even try to prosecute under that?
None that I know of. But I can tell you which ones he SHOULD have prosecuted. Every single one that has declared itself a sanctuary city. Should have arrested every mayor and every governor who did that.

Unconstitutional and illegal according to federal law. Just like those scofflaws smoking pot in Colorado, California, Washington, and Oregon.
yeh, I thought the executive branch had control over immigration issues.. and the legislative. But while Congress makes laws.. there is no law that says you have to obey said laws..

:uhoh3:

aka anarchy

So I have your permission to own an unregistered machine gun and silencer without paying the $200 tax stamps? Gee, thanks bro.

So why are they catching so many more lately?

LOL wrong as always....or ridiculously obvious.... He was an independent who was a member of neither party until he decided to run as a republican in 1952. Dingbat

Yes yes it has nothing to do with the sanctions that have totally destroyed their economies lol... We only have been doing this for the last 100 years at least, actually since the Monroe Doctrine lol...works not at all... Hands off Latin America damn it, the Cold War is over....
