How is it that Britain has to deploy police with guns? They banned and confiscated guns for law abiding people...and yet they want to give more of their police guns, and they have more gun violence all across their country....
Armed police to patrols streets of Toxteth and Dingle after spate of shootings
Armed police will be patrolling Toxteth and Dingle over the festive season after three shootings separated by less than 30 hours.
The high profile response follows shocking attacks that left a man fighting for his life and two homes being blasted by thugs.
Merseyside Police today called on those with details about the violence to “break the wall of silence” and help detectives remove those responsible from our streets.
Over the coming days high visibility patrols - including armed officers walking the streets - will be operating across the L8 area after the latest outbreak of gun violence on Merseyside.
Special stop and search powers will also be in place between 5pm tonight and 6am on Saturday in the area bounded by Princes Road, Devonshire Road, Belvidere Road, Dingle Lane, Promenade Gardens, Riverside Drive, Sefton Street, Parliament Street and Upper Parliament Street.
------
The response comes after a 21-year-old was left in a critical condition after being shot in the stomach on Wednesday night.
He was rushed to hospital after being found on the corner of Upper Warwick Street and Maud Street at around 7pm.
Fortunately, his condition is thought to have improved.
At 5.30am the following morning shots were fired at a home on Mill Street in Dingle.
No-one was injured in the incident, though people were inside the property at the time.
Police then attended a home on Saltergate Road late on Thursday after another home had been blasted.
All three attacks are being treated as targeted.
