Armed security

Where are all of these low wage protectors coming from ?

It's a labor union of sorts. They made it illegal for "us" to carry guns so that they can charge money to carry guns on our behalf.

Except it's not actually "us" those hired killers are protecting.
I live in Ireland where you cannot own a handgun. We do not have gun violence.

This came out today, not sure how reliable this news link is, Republic of Ireland is deadliest place to live in Irish and British Isles - new figures - Independent.ie

A quarter of away down on this link is the Ireland info. Gun Control: What Happened in England, Ireland, and Canada | Ryan McMaken The article basically there is no link to violent crime and gun control in England, Wales or Ireland.

It is the faux-military appeal.
Well, its large mag capacity will have a bit to do with it, as will its ubiquity.
That the AR platform is modular is the primary appeal.
Just like the 'real thing'. In their minds, it's an M16.
People who take the 2nd Amendment seriously and not as dumb as a bag of hammers knows the difference between an AR-15 and the M16.

If all schools need armed security to protect children. And places of worship now need armed security to protect worshippers.

That is a lot of armed security. No doubt there are other places that would need this type of cover.

Where are all of these low wage protectors coming from ?

And who will pay for them ?
All of America needs to be better armed... We need to step it up

It is really sad what has happened to the US.

And yet, the unarmed people of Europe, 12 million of them, were handed over to the German Socialists by their own governments....and sent to death camps where they were murdered......those 12 million still far outnumber any number of murders committed by criminals released onto our streets by democrats....do you only care when criminals murder people, and ignore the millions more murdered by their governments in Europe?
You are insane. You are prepared to see people slaughtered every day as long as you can hang on to your penis extension. Your only suggestion is that you need more guns. How much do they pay you to spout this shite ?
You Brits never had the absolute right to own firearms so your opinion is noted and then quickly ignored by those who will not give up their Constitutional right to bear arms.

The major difference between an AR15 and an M16 is that the latter is not sold in stores. Such are the 'infringements' on a 'right'.

154 mass shootings so far this year in the US. Not one by a Black or illegal immigrant.

That is a lie..... there were not 154 mass shootings you dumb ass..... The definition of a mass shooting by the FBI used to be 4 or more people killed in one place by a someone who was not connected to another crime...... then obama wanted more mass shootings recorded so he lowered that to 3...... and even with that lower number there were........

Hold on...so a mass shooting doesn't count as a mass shooting unless enough people actually die?
I never realised...you've been right all along...it isn't about guns, it's about marksmanship.

According to the FBI..... that is why Australia can lie and say their gun control laws stopped their mass public shootings...even though they have had about a dozen public shootings.....but the shooter either decided not to shoot 3 or more people, or tried and failed to shoot 3 or more people.....
So you're saying that the US has more mass shootings than Australia because Americans are quite simply better shots?
That's something to brag about I suppose.
MAGA!!

Partially, what I am saying is that the Australian gun confiscation and ban did not stop mass public shootings....even going by your premise, there are guns in Australis, their nuts are not using them as often to shoot up public spaces, but they have had at least a dozen since they banned and confiscated guns....... since they have had public shootings, the only thing that keeps them from being called mass public shootings is the number of murder victims...in the dozen or so public shootings, there have been less than 3 people killed....only because the shooter stopped shooting people, or he shot people who didn't die, and others who had a weapon that malfunctioned....

The major difference between an AR15 and an M16 is that the latter is not sold in stores. Such are the 'infringements' on a 'right'.

No, dipshit...the major difference is that the AR-15 cannot be selectively fired and is not a military weapon..... the AR-15 has never been used in war, while the M16 is a select fire military weapon.....

Also, they are both protected by the 2nd Amendment, the AR-15 by name...

Yep.... you guys are about to catch up....
When the factor of mass shootings in the US is something like 10 times as great or whatever. Yeah, right.

Wrong.... you aren't measuring apples to apples...compare our states with simliar countries with the same population.....

Fact Checker Snopes.com's big mistakes in comparing mass public shootings in the US and Europe - Crime Prevention Research Center

We can break down the US into individual states just as Europe is broken down into individual countries (click on the table below to enlarge). Snopes makes much of the fact that while Europe as a whole has mass public shootings every year, most European countries didn’t. Indeed, eleven of the fifteen European countries shown had only one year from 2009-2015 where they had a mass public shooting (if you include Russia, it would be eleven out of sixteen countries). But the same pattern holds true for US states, where 14 of the 18 states that had a mass public shooting experienced only one year with such deaths from 2009-2015. To put it differently, 73% of the European countries had deaths from a mass public shooting in only one year (69%, including the European part of Russia). By contrast, 78% of the states with a mass public shooting had deaths in only one year.

While it’s true that all European countries have a median mass public shooting death toll of zero, it is also zero for all but one of the 50 US states — California. Looking at average deaths among states and European countries, we find that six of the ten worst are European countries.
----

They completely ignore that we also compared the US to the EU and Europe as a whole. For four of these seven years, the total number of deaths from mass public shootings is greater in these European countries than in the US. If one compares the yearly median for Europe to the yearly median for the US, they are virtually the same. With or without France, the median for Europe is 19. For the US, it is 18.
-----

Norway has a population of about 5 million people. Seven states in the US have populations between 4.4 million (Kentucky) and 5.7 million (Wisconsin). The other states are Louisiana (4.7 million), Alabama (4.9 million), South Carolina (4.9 million), Colorado (5.5 million), and Minnesota (5.5 million). Three of those states had no mass public shootings. The other four each had one mass public shooting, just like Norway.

The big difference is that those seven states had a total of 33 deaths from mass public shootings, while Norway had 69.

Even if you look at the mass public shootings in all the ten states between 4 and 7 million, the total number of deaths from mass public shootings is 48, with a total population of 78.5 million. Their total population is 15.5 times greater than Norway’s. Does Snopes.com really want to argue that Norway should only be compared to the US as a whole?
Classic and hilarious cherry-picking.
Why not compare Disneyland to Luxembourg...on any given day they probably have a similar population?

No....it is called comparing apples to apples, states with the same population as countries in Europe....vs. the whole 320 million people of the United States with the tiny country of Belgium....

Anyway, after that comic interlude I would like to resurrect the OP.

Where are all these security guards coming from and who will pay for them ?

Should there be a tax on guns and ammo to fund this ?

Again.... you don't need lots of armed security if you get rid of the gun free zone. Again, mass public shooters target gun free zones...we know this because the mass shooters we capture alive tell us they target gun free zones, and even the dead ones leave notes where they detail their targeting choices....

If you allow normal, armed citizens with their legal guns into churches and synagogues, mass shooters will stay away, especially if you advertise that the people in the church can and will be armed. Mass shooters are not looking for a shoot out, they are looking to kill unarmed people.

There can't be a tax on guns and ammo.....in this country the democrat party didn't want Black Americans to vote...so they imposed a tax on voting. That was ruled unConstitutional...a tax on a Right is not allowed....owning a gun and the ammo that goes with it is a Right, any tax is equivalent to a Poll Tax.

If this type of protection is needed, the US is in a world of trouble, and there is no cure.
Correct – there is no resolution.

Gunowners won’t start voluntarily surrendering their guns.

No new Federal legislation will be enacted; and if such legislation is enacted, it will be invalidated by the courts.

Indeed, it’s likely state and local laws now in effect will be subject to a court challenge and struck down.

Gun Homicide Rate Down 49% Since 1993 Peak; Public Unaware

Compared with 1993, the peak of U.S. gun homicides, the firearm homicide rate was 49% lower in 2010, and there were fewer deaths, even though the nation’s population grew. The victimization rate for other violent crimes with a firearm—assaults, robberies and sex crimes—was 75% lower in 2011 than in 1993. Violent non-fatal crime victimization overall (with or without a firearm) also is down markedly (72%) over two decades.

Doctor found with stash of guns and NHS hitlist jailed

A former doctor has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for stockpiling guns with the intent to endanger life.

Martin Watt was found with three submachine guns, two pistols and 1,500 live cartridges at a property in Cumbernauld, Scotland, last year.

The 62-year-old had lost his job at Monklands hospital in North Lanarkshire in 2012 after disciplinary hearings. His marriage broke down around the same time, the high court in Glasgow was told.

Watt had compiled a list of names and addresses of some colleagues involved in the disciplinary process, which the judge, Valerie Stacey, said Watt had referred to as an assassination list.

Despite some of the tightest gun control on the planet, a British man was able to acquire a handgun, extended mags and explosives as part of a plot to attack his former school.

Liam Lyburd, 19, of Newcastle upon Tyne, was sentenced to life imprisonment this week on eight charges of possessing weapons with intent to endanger life.

As noted by the BBC, Lyburd gathered a cache that included a Glock 19, three 33-round magazines, 94 hollow-point bullets, CS gas, five pipe bombs and two other improvised explosive devices despite the country’s long history of civilian arms control.

According to court documents, Lyburd planned to use the weapons in an attack on Newcastle College, from which he had been expelled two years prior for poor attendance. He was arrested last November after two Northumbria Police constables visited him at his home on a tip from an individual who encountered threats and disturbing pictures posted by Lyburd online.

Despite a defense that portrayed the reclusive man as living in a fantasy world, Lyburd was found guilty in July.

The internet-savvy teen obtained the Glock and other items through Evolution Marketplace, a successor to the Silk Road, a long-time “dark web” site in which users could buy and sell everything from illegal narcotics to munitions using Bitcoin cryptocurrency.

In court, Lyburd testified that buying the Glock was so easy it was “like buying a bar of chocolate.”

He obtained funds for his purchases through a complex extortion scheme in which he used online malware to infect computers, which he in turn held for ransom from their owners.

'Gunman' walks into Liverpool nursery school as children were playing inside

Police have sealed off a children's nursery in Liverpool amid reports a gunman walked into the building while youngsters were inside.

Officers were called to Childs Play Nursery in Wavertree, Merseyside, at around 8am this morning.

The man, who is believed to have been carrying what looked like a firearm, walked into the nursery and approached another man.

He then left with a second man on the back of a motorbike.

What kept this from becoming a mass shooting?
Gun violence is stronger in areas where you are allowed to carry. Do not listen to the lies on pro gun websites.
Or more precisely, there is no evidence that the carrying of firearms has the affect of ‘reducing’ crime and gun violence.

If all schools need armed security to protect children. And places of worship now need armed security to protect worshippers.

That is a lot of armed security. No doubt there are other places that would need this type of cover.

Where are all of these low wage protectors coming from ?

And who will pay for them ?
We have a Second Amendment and should have no security problems in our free States.

And there we go....... you see a gun, and you think penis.... for all the other anti-gunners out there....a gun is not a penis....you need to go immediately and find psychiatric help because your sex drive is really screwed up.....

And as to guns in America.....our gun murder rate went down 49% as more Americans own and carry guns...so you are wrong....

In Britain, your gun crime rate has gone up after you banned guns...so you are wrong again...since your gun control laws can't stop your criminals from getting guns....and you have recently had up to 3 almost mass shootings stopped only by dumb luck.... you are facing a future of mass shootings in your country.... your gun crime is not frozen in amber....and criminals are getting more guns, as are your nuts....

We went from 200 million guns in private hands in the 1990s and 4.7 million people carrying guns for self defense in 1997...to close to 400-600 million guns in private hands and over 17.25 million people carrying guns for self defense in 2018...guess what happened...

-- gun murder down 49%

--gun crime down 75%

--violent crime down 72%

Gun Homicide Rate Down 49% Since 1993 Peak; Public Unaware

Compared with 1993, the peak of U.S. gun homicides, the firearm homicide rate was 49% lower in 2010, and there were fewer deaths, even though the nation’s population grew. The victimization rate for other violent crimes with a firearm—assaults, robberies and sex crimes—was 75% lower in 2011 than in 1993. Violent non-fatal crime victimization overall (with or without a firearm) also is down markedly (72%) over two decades.

Teenage boys planned to 'kill everyone' at Yorkshire school in Columbine-style gun and bomb massacre, court hears

Two teenage boys planned to “kill everyone” at their Yorkshireschool in a Columbine-style massacre using bombs and guns, a court has heard.

---------------------------

The document said the boy would “lay low” in Catterick before murdering his ex-girlfriend’s parents and stealing her father’s guns, the court heard.

“I’ll make some explosives then well find a way back to Northallerton and well begin our assault on that f****** school,” it continued

----

"This was no teenage fantasy; it was real,” he added. “They intended a re-enactment of the Columbine High School Massacre although fortunately, in the result, they were stopped before their plans were put into action.”

Look at how old most of these are. I f I want a good historical read, I will check them out.

Actually eliminating gun free zones goes a long way in making shooter's targets safer.

Great Idea (jnot)

I bet you want others to believe you thought this foolishness all by yourself.

You say that as if it was an intelligent statement.......

Gun free zones draw these shooters.....we know because they tell us ..... you hate guns, and because of that, you don't want this problem solved, you need dead people to push gun control.

The only smart thing to do is to allow normal, law abiding people to carry their legal guns with them when they go to these places...do that, and mass shooters will stop attacking them....

The Anti-Trump, Anti-Israel shooter didn't attack when there was armed security at the synagogue, he attacked when it was a gun free zone... you refuse to learn that lesson, now more people will die....
They happen everywhere. Our police who are always armed are shot and killed weekly. Something that is very rare in countries with strong gun control. The Orlando night club had armed security. Too many guns equals too many deaths.

Four of the six people shot but not killed at the synagog were highly trained police.

The armed security person at the Orlando night club was one of the first to be shot and killed.

Arming people isn't the answer. All that does is guarantee the armed security person is the first or one of the first to be shot and killed.

Removing the guns from crazy people is the answer. Unfortunately trump signed an EO that make it easier for those with mental problems to get a gun.
