The real effort should be to address the mental illnesses and severe depression that lead people to take their own lives. Banning guns doesn't stop the deaths, so what is the real goal here?

My suggestion would be to investigate whether she was on any prescription drugs.

I would wager she was, and that one of the side effects of those drugs was suicidal thoughts.
