College counselors advise some Asian students to appear less Asian - Lifestyle - The Boston Globe
It seems like Asians outperform all other races in terms of education. Soon they will get all well paid jobs so white and Hispanic Americans will have nothing to do but clean toilets in Burger King. That's a big problem we have there: on the one hand we definitely need to reduce the number of Asians getting into the colleges in order to keep American population diverse. On the other hand introducing racial quotas for Asians is against the main principles of democracy. What could be done here?

Asians are given scholarships while white people have to take out loans.

Punish success and achievement. Tis the liberal way.

A small number of student near the cutoff point may be affected by race criteria but that depends on the schools affirmative action plan. 8 or 10 states have banned affirmative action plans. Most of the universities and colleges in these states have been going to race neutral plans.

Race neutral plans can achieve the same diversity as affirmative action plans by substituting other criteria for race. For example a race neutral plan may, guarantee admission to state universities to the top 4% of all high school graduating classes or it may guarantee the top tier in each geographic area admission. Other plans use economic criteria such as favorable treatment of applicants from low income families that have achieved good grades and test scores. There are a number of plans which hold the promise of working just as well as affirmative action.

The primary purpose of affirmative action or race neutral plans is to prevent law suits. Diversity is secondary.

I'm forking out $45K/year while my daughter's Asian roommate pays zero.

And most of them pay very little. My granddaughter had an SAT on 2050 and 3.4 GPA. She gets $4,000 a year in scholarships. Her yearly college costs are about $35,000. Private schools seem to have more liberal scholarships than public, but their tuition is usually higher.
