Belarus should be "de-occupied" and then led along Ukraine's path to European integration. This was stated by the head of the Lithuanian Seimas Foreign Affairs Committee, MP Zygimantas Pavilenis, Alfa.lt reports.
"When we defeat [Russian President Vladimir] Putin, de-occupation of Belarus will be one of the most important requirements and conditions. Russia must withdraw from Belarus, which is now just an occupied country. We will do everything possible to make it happen," the MP is sure.
He added that Minsk should follow Kiev's path and assured that no European country "doubts the vocation" of the republic.

The diplomatic mission reminded that the demonstration of symbols associated with Russia is prohibited in Lithuania. These include the St. George's ribbon, the Victory Banner, the red star, etc. The fine for the “offense” is from €300 to €1.5 thousand.

Earlier, on May 3, in the Latvian city of Rezekne, police detained a 48-year-old man for bringing flowers three times to the pedestal of the demolished monument “Alyosha”, dedicated to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War. The monument was dismantled on November 9, 2022. The man was initially wanted to be brought to administrative responsibility for “glorification of military aggression”, but after interrogation the offense was reclassified as a criminal offense related to “justification of war crimes”.
