They not only provide the Nectar of the Gods but keep the environment healthy and productive by pollinating plants.


They say it’ll be hard to track down the perps but with a $6k award in the works, someone somewhere will shoot off their mouths.

The beehives were discovered on Saturday morning scattered across the bee yard, the Brazoria County Beekeepers Association (BCBA) wrote on Facebook. Several hives appeared ashen-black and one brood frame floated in the water nearby with bees still caring for the eggs.

“It’s bad enough to think in today’s world this would happen but dumping them over and then setting fire to them is beyond comprehension,” the BCBA said in the post.

The one I heard about was done by vandals. This one is too, but it is more recent (Iowa)

“All of the beehives on the honey farm were destroyed and approximately 500,000 bees perished in the frigid temperatures,” Sioux City police said in a release.

The names of the juveniles have not been released, but they are 12 and 13 years old, the Sioux City Journal reported. They’re charged with criminal mischief, agricultural animal facilities offenses and burglary.

Justin and Tori Englehardt, the owners of Wild Hill, were despondent by the “senseless” act.

“They knocked over every single hive, killing all the bees. They wiped us out completely,” Justin Engelhardt told the Journal. “They broke into our shed, they took all our equipment out and threw it out in the snow, smashed what they could. Doesn’t look like anything was stolen, everything was just vandalized or destroyed.”

Even so, the owners vowed to rebuild the business, which is estimated to cost about $60,000. The damage was not covered by the owners’ insurance, but fundraising campaigns have raised thousands of dollars for the recovery. What's the matter? Why not answer the question? Which part of killing thousands of beneficial insects do you find to be "fun"? Do you simply not know the answer, or does the answer embarrass you, and do you worry about what people might think if you actually spoke the words? Either should be cause for concern if you are a rational person. If you are less than rational, then why would irrational behavior send up any sort of red flag for you?

Whose character did I assassinate? I asked a question regarding which part of an irrational act one might perceive as fun. Perhaps you don't quite understand what constitutes character assassination. Now if I simply made up the accusation of finding fun in killing insects...or killing anything else for that matter and went about spreading that false claim...I would be guilty of character assassination. I didn't make it up though. He freely admits, in public that he thinks it is "fun" to kill insects by the thousands.

Children have a tendency to kill insects for fun...They usually do so because it gives them a feeling of power and control in a world in which they have little. Children who find fun in the activity however are exhibiting signs of deeper psychological issues...and children who don't outgrow this tendency and carry it into adulthood and actually find enjoyment in such behavior should be sending up red flags for the rest of us.
