Beggars Can Be Choosers!

I have to admit, it is hard to keep up with these Republicans. Today they are obsessed with rather some yahoo is working or not. Yesterday they were bitching about other yahoos actually working. It is confusing. build a wall to keep workers out, pass a law to conscript workers. WTF?

Is it the money? Seriously? Bitch about paying for some lazy dude's Doritos while ignoring the fact that you are helping your well off neighbor pay the mortgage on his McMansion, contribute to his seven figure retirement account, and footing a large part of his health insurance premium. That don't sound too bright.

Well there is the other side of the coin, Cynthia/Cindy/Chica! If the Treasury could gather/retain all the corporate welfare tax giveaways and largess in the form of pointed and directed legislation plus the gimmicks allowed to shelter the wealth of the top 5% income earners established just for them, then the additional hundreds of billions of dollars collected each quarter would offset those expenditures for which you take such great exception. As usual, your OP fails to be at all objective and is tainted with your own brand of political bias and is just another cynical missive.
Thats how ALL of PoliSpice's threads are. ThoughtCrimes

Neither. They are just LAZY. No intellectual curiosity. They don't watch the news or keep up with politics to learn. They already know everything and are merely seeking confirmation of their naïve, simplistic, misconceptions. This is demonstrated by the whole fake news fiasco.

Wait....those honest poor folks that Liberals demand we continue to support....they wouldn't be ripping those of us who work, off????
Would they????

"...“off the books” employment is rarely reported to the welfare office; hiding earnings enables a recipient to “double-dip,” getting full welfare benefits he is ineligible to receive while simultaneously receiving earnings from an unreported job.

A work requirement substantially reduces welfare fraud because insisting a recipient be in the welfare office periodically interferes with holding a hidden job. .... Faced with a work requirement, many recipients with hidden jobs simply leave the rolls. No doubt, a significant part of the rapid caseload decline in Maine involves flushing fraudulent double-dippers out of the welfare system."

was meant as an explanation of you being unable to, as you admit, "keep up with these Republicans."

As the news media is under Democrat/Liberal control, you're whining about fake news identifies you as a government school grad, and as dumb as asphalt.

You probably believe (I almost said 'think') that the Russian influenced our elections toward Trump.

Now, I'll prove it.

Baby, all you proved is that you don't have the sense you were born with.

Did you look at the source information for your $1T of welfare spending?

Since when are Social Security payments welfare? Do you now know that Social Security and Medicare payments, which together are the largest share of all those payments, are mostly returns paid to people who contributed their own wages into the program? It ain't welfare when someone gives you back your own damn money.

This post is one reason why today's Liberals are thought to be so stupid.

The sane rational American doesn't mind letting someone who works hard and makes a good income keep a little more of that income,. by way of mortgage interest deduction, for example.

They do mind that their hard earned income goes to support people who could work, but chose not to.

In other words, Dumb-Ass Socialist....we're o.k. with letting a Doctor who went to college and med school for ten years have a nice house...we are not o.k. with having to pay for a house for someone who could work, but chooses not to.

Read up on Jeffersonian Meritocracy...its made this the greatest nation on Earth....whereas Socialism has failed every where.

"Heartland Americans aren't too bright". Its all you CoastalCocksuckers/CollegeSnowflakes/RottingCitySocialists have got left these days. Its tiresome; lacks imagination, intellect, education.....contributes nothing to this board, in short---Get Fucked.

Gads, you're a dunce.

Let me poke you in the eye with this:

" Ida May Fuller, the first person to begin receiving benefits, in January, 1940, when she was 65- she lived to be 100. “…worked for three years under the Social Security program. The accumulated taxes on her salary during those three years was a total of $24.75. Her initial monthly check was $22.54. During her lifetime she collected a total of $22,888.92 in Social Security benefits.”
Social Security History

Her money, huh?

"According to the institute’s data, a two-earner couple receiving an average wage — $44,600 per spouse in 2012 dollars — and turning 65 in 2010 would have paid $722,000 into Social Security and Medicare and can be expected to take out $966,000 in benefits. So, this couple will be paid about one-third more in benefits than they paid in taxes."

Better get that brain of your off that pin 'cause it's rollin' around like BB on six lane highway.

Soc Sec. maximum benefit: $2639
Years of benefit receipt needed to take $966K in benefits: 30
Years of contribution required to receive $966K: 35
Retirement age required to receive 100% benefit payments: 66
How many people live to be 96 or older? 1.4% of the population

And that's not even considering the people who put in more than they can ever actually withdraw as benefits.

When a material share of the population lives long enough to collect more than the $966K you noted, maybe your factoids will be worth caring about.

And Obama killed it.

"Obama kills welfare reform
By Dick Morris - 07/17/12 10:07 PM EDT

Determined to destroy Bill Clinton’s signature achievement, President Obama’s administration has opened a loophole in the 1996 welfare reform legislation big enough to make the law ineffective. Its work requirement — the central feature of the legislation — has been diluted beyond recognition by the bureaucrats at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

On Thursday of last week, HHS issued regulations that modified — gutted — the work requirement.

Section 415(a)(2)(B) of the welfare reform act, now codified at 42 U.S.C. § 615(a)(2)(B), expressly states that ‘a waiver granted under section 1315 of this title [the one that HHS now claims it is acting under] or otherwise which relates to the provision of assistance under a State program funded under this part (as in effect on Sept. 30, 1996) shall not affect the applicability of section 607 of this title [which applies the work requirements] to the State.’ In short, whatever else might be said of the scope of the waiver authority, the Secretary has no lawful authority to waive the work requirements of section 607, which is what HHS is contemplating in its Memorandum.”
Obama kills welfare reform TheHill

This is what Obama killed:

"...welfare rolls plunged by over 60 percent, as many as two million mothers entered the labor force, earnings for females heading families increased while their income from welfare payments fell, and child poverty declined every year between 1993 and 2000. By the late 1990s, both black child poverty and poverty among children in female-headed families had reached their lowest levels ever.
