Did you not read my post? I'm not debating what Paul said, I'm saying it was for a specific situation and not to contradict nearly everything else on the subject in the whole Bible. Stop trying to play stupid word games and read what is posted. No kidding. I'm atheist now but I was raised episcopalian. I know the whole passage, and you are cherry picking portions of it and taking it out of context. Paul was laying down some rules to deal with a small group of people who were not just taking advantage of the Christian types generosity but actively abusing it by sowing discord. You are trying to use that single incident to reverse all the other teaching of generosity, charity, and kindness.Does it not occur to you that that single statement is at odds with everything else Jesus and the apostles were teaching and saying? All the rest if their teachings are about helping folks.
Holy crap, really?
You want to make the point that the Daily kos is the great arbiter of what Scripture does, and doesn't say? You need help.
Let the Scripture spe3akfor itself.
"
2 Thessalonians 3:10 New International Version (NIV)
10 For even when we were with you we gave you this rule: “The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.”"
Cherry picking specific phrases to twist their meaning is dishonest.
Cherry piking? You are completely uneducated in these matters....
"
1 Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you:
2 And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith.
3 But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.
4 And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you.
5 And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.
6 Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.
7 For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you;
8 Neither did we eat any man's bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you:
9 Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us.
10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
11 For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.
12 Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.'
2 THESSALONIANS CHAPTER 3 KJV
That's the entire context kid.
As I said, extremely dishonest.
Let's try this again kid....
"10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat."
Tell me children, which word in that sentence dictates the meaning of said sentence......think hard....you can do it....
