In the long term, Biden defeating Trump could actually be a good thing for the Republican Party. First, the midterm elections usually favor the party not in the White House, so the Republicans would probably have a better shot of winning back the House in 2022 and getting rid of Pelosi once and for all. She is 80 years old. She'd be 82 at that point. If she loses the Speaker position she'll resign from the House guaranteed. Second, Biden is 78 years old, meaning he'd be 82 at the end of his first term. It's highly unlikely he'll run for a second, but if he does, his age will work against him. If he doesn't, his VP will almost certainly be the heir apparent unless he makes a bad pick. In that case, there is no incumbency handicap that the Republican challenger would need to overcome. This provides a great opportunity for younger GOPers like Marco Rubio or Nikki Haley to step up and run in 2024 without the stench of Trump lingering and bogging them down and giving the American people a fresher choice than these constant stale Baby Boomers we keep getting thrown at us. Candidates like Rubio and Haley could also invite a more diverse group of voters into the Republican coalition, which the the party needs if it wishes to remain viable long term.

I said back in 2016 that if Trump were to actually win he could provide a short term gain for the party, but would be disastrous long term and we've seen that play out. Republicans had their worst midterm defeat in 2018 since Watergate. Trump's antics in public and in social media are embarrassing. He's headed for defeat this year and he's dragging the Senate down with him. Senate seats that shouldn't be competitive are being out raised by their Democratic challengers. The Republican Party is no longer about conservatism, but about Trumpism, and his cult like sycophants are becoming just as deranged as their TDS suffering counterparts in their hypocritical defense of him.

Donald Trump had the potential be a great president, but his narcissism got in the way. He keeps tripping over his own feet and if he loses in November he has nobody but himself to blame for it, but ultimately, the party might be better off cutting him loose and letting it happen.

You're not voting for the Groper, you're voting for his running mate

The man has dementia/Alzheimer's.

It's completely obvious to anyone who has dealt with the dreaded disease

Actually, it would be voting for Jill. Jill is a big admirer of Edith Wilson.

The picture of Joe and Jill at a wreath-laying ceremony today was creepy. Including Joe wearing dark glasses while being lead around by the hand by Jill.

Oh good grief, a roaring economy, kept us out of new wars, took no bullshit from anyone...

You look ridiculous

It would be terrible for the U.S. Supreme Court and a bunch of lower courts.

We need some god-shit Republicans to occupy the White House and Senate for at least 100 years to offset FDR's wholly owned and controlled communist court.

.

The court picks argument lost its validity the day John Roberts betrayed the country on ObamaCare.

Concede now.

I'll agree on Roberts but I shudder to think about Cankles picking one

Biden and either Klobuchar or Abrams would be a DISASTER for the U.S. and would be Obama on steroids. We'd see the Green New Deal installed which would be extremely destructive economically and bring about the Fundamental Transformation (Communism) Obama promised.

I cannot imagine a scenario that Biden wins in. He hasn't just lost his fastball, he's mentally gone.

History tells me that Barack Obama suffered a "shellacking" in his first mid-term election losing 63 House seats and 6 Senate seats! So tell me again how he fared in the election after that? Trump lost 41 House seats but gained 2 Senate seats in his first mid-term. That's not even in the same ball park as what the Democrats suffered through. Trump will be fine. He's running against an awful candidate and he has five months to get the economy headed in the right direction.

Ask yourself how much more disastrous a Hillary presidency would have been. My take? A lot worse. You say Trump's presidency has been/will be disastrous long term, but for who? The GOP lost the House in 2018 not because of Trump but because they didn't do shit with their majority when they had it. Too many never-Trumpers got themselves thrown out of office. It's true that the GOP is no longer much of a Conservative Party, but they sure as hell are compared to the Democrats.

I think we should worry more about 2020 than 2024. If Trump is replaced by a democrat, what do you think happens to our economy? Have you heard what the Dems are talking about doing? Great God Almighty, bailouts left and right, free everything for everybody, open borders, etc. What could happen to the balance in the SCOTUS with a Dem president making the picks and a Dem Senate confirming them? The GOP might be better off if he loses re-election, but will America? At a time like this, the wrong decisions could be catastrophic IMHO. Times are going to get tough anyway, but there's tough times and then there's FUBAR. Given that choice, I'll go with tough times.

It would be horrible for America and the West, great for China. I have the feeling most Americans understand this.

Also, the GOP would think "well, America First is over, let's get back to being like the Dems, at the expense of America." Guys like Romney would rejoice in their victory and return to the "good old days". Hell, he might run for president again.

If Trump loses, the communist party of China will have a national party and the free for all of destroying the West will accelerate. They will consider themselves to be so fortunate to have so many allies in America.
