Well said. Imagine suggesting money wasn't the primary motivation behind slavery.Slavers generally went to where it was most profitable & easiest to obtain slaves.
Whites enslaved fellow whites, blacks, Natives, Asians & Arabs.
Blacks enslaved fellow blacks, whites, Natives, Asians & Arabs.
Arabs did the same.
Asians did the same.
Natives did the same.
Basically every race has a history as both slaves & slave holders.
Every human being living today would probably have ancestors that were one or the other.
Slaves were always used as or sold for currency.REAL slavery was common throughout Human history, now we get paid for it.

Yeah, I think we got over that; well, there's still some remnants.....Slaves were always used as or sold for currency.
There's actually more slaves in the world today than at any point in history. That's because of our massive population. Per 1000 people it's not even close to historical times, but overall there are actually more slaves today.Yeah, I think we got over that; well, there's still some remnants.....
I think it's impossible for slaves to not be dehumanized by most of the people that enslave them. It was always about money; even to the bitter end. The south was worried about the financial hit that would follow the end of slavery.Slavery in the US didn’t start with racism, it was initially a financial system for free labor. But overtime it became racism one raced enslaved, justified because of race.

Well damn, I gotta go to work @ 5:00 am. But I'm well compensated. There's actually more slaves in the world today than at any point in history. That's because of our massive population. Per 1000 people it's not even close to historical times, but overall there are actually more slaves today.
Agree, it became racialized in America.I think it's impossible for slaves to not be dehumanized by most of the people that enslave them. It was always about money; even to the bitter end. The south was worried about the financial hit that would follow the end of slavery.

Slavery wasn’t always based on race.
We are living in an enlightened age. But most folks in history didn’t live in such an enlightened age.
We, today, especially in the West, recognize the immorality and wrongness of slavery. But it is kind of unrealistic to judge those of the past by the more enlightened modern sensibilities of today.
I see your point. But I still put more stock in the modern day aversion to slavery. If today's society is what enlightenment looks like, we might want to do some recaculating.
